The holiday inn express was in an ideal location to explore san francisco-
the staff were always helpful and made some very useful suggestions for

Beautiful hotel in the best location. The rooms are very clean and the staff is amazing. The hotel is located by really nice cafes and great restaurants, although I would stay away from the Italian restaurant right next door. Bad service and not very good. On the other hand, the cafe/bakery on the other side of the entrance is really good. -

Out of context the rate seems a little bit expensive... But we compared
with so many other hotels in the area, and I really think this was the
best hotel for this price range! The location was amazing - north beach
on one side and chinatown on the other; walking distance to
fisherman's wharf... We really felt like we were in the heart of the
city.

I did like they offered breakfast which other hotels in the area
didn'T. Breakfast was simple: cereals, breads, juices, boiled eggs.
The price was good compared to others in the area. I liked the location,
I wouldn't normally stay in "china town" but I enjoyed the
experience. One street over is North Beach, which isn't a
"beach". More appropriate name should be "little
italy"; very good italian restaurants. I would stay here again if
the prices stayed the way they were.

I really liked the décor - based on a poster for the film Vertigo. The emphasis on white made the interior look very clean and fresh. Our bed was very comfortable and we were particularly grateful to be able to take off the duvet and have just the lovely sheets and cotton blanket. Good location just a walk from Union Square. Easy access to Muni. Helpful receptionists. Fridge and coffee making machine. Great breakfast place directly across the street.

This hostel at 685 Ellis is amazing. It's like an European style hotel with updated modern facility, nice and quiet(I imagine the one on Powell street won't be this quiet). The hotel was really nice and clean, the staf was very friendly - they allowed us ti check in already at noon without being alerted beforehand. The breakfast is simple but fine, the afternoon tea and sherry enjoyable. The rooms are spacious and furnished with taste, the beds are comfortable. this was a pleasant experience. The location is very good, near the Union square and the Grace cathedral, with many options to dine around.

I really enjoyed this property. I have never stayed at hostel and was weary about this. When first speaking to the staff they made feel welcome. The bed was comfortable.
