  The building itself is magnificent - harks back to a more refined time. We were a group of 5 "mature" college girlfriends, having our every-other-year reunion. The location was great, being within walking distance to the White House and many other sites, and 1 block away from the Metro. Biggest chocolate strawberrys/and cake and cream ive ever seen as a special gesture and free. staff and conciege extra polite and helpful.As previous comments this is a luxury standard by which all others should be judged the besr hotel we have stayed in and weve stayed in some top ones. the hotel is steeped in history take the trouble to enquire????

  The location is perfect with White House and the National Mall just there. Rooms were excellent! Beautiful decor and we really liked having classical music playing softly through a Bose system as we've entered our room every night. The staff was excellent in every way. The breakfast was great. Could not be more gracious without being intrusive...always professional, friendly and available. These folks know how to treat their guests! Food was delicious. We dined in the Lafayette at least three times and in the lower bar late one evening. The room, which was upgraded, was lovely, quiet and everything was fresh and clean.

  Our experience exceeded our expectations. We thought all of your staff were very well trained to be friendly to guests. We were there for a marathon and didn't have dressy clothing and when we had friends join us in the bar area one evening, we were somewhat underdressed, but were never treated any differently than anyone else in the hotel. Very nice, but not stuffy. - We thoiught the staff were - to a person - friendly, helpful, charming and really seemed to go out of their way to help us. The kids loved the St. Regis bags they received. There was a slight problem with our booking which was sorted out in a timely and efficient manner - everyone - from the concierge staff to the reception people were friendly and charming! Well done to all of them! WE will DEFINITELY be back!

  We were stollen at Georgetown and the staff of the hotel was very kind and helpful. They have called the police, who came to the hotel and at the end of the day, when we arrived to the room, we had a very kind note offering a bottle of wine and some fruit. These areas included an excellent restaurant and bar and a lovely reading room. The staff were friendly and helpful as well. The spa was fabulous. Three of our party had a massage, and each of us was pleased with the experience. The room was quiet and nicely appointed, although not as luxurious as some other five star hotels we've stayed in.
