  The quietness. Like a retreat. Great food. - Staff were courteous and efficient. Checked in early but no rooms were available, they said they would call me when I could go to the room. They did. The room I got I didn't like (close to elevator door and TV not straight in from of bed). They upgraded me to quieter corner room.

  I travel to NYC about 10 times a year. I have hotels at which I customarily stay, but this trip came up suddenly and everything was sold out or exorbitantly expensive. I found the Pearl based on two criteria -- it was not as expensive as some of the other hotels and it was highly ranked by both travelers and star ratings.   Good base to explore New York. Very comfortable hotel, room was spotlessly clean with plenty of toiletries & beautiful towels. Room comfort excellent. We couldn't check in til 4pm but not a problem as we left our luggage there so we were able to start our tour of New York. After hours having to use your room key to get past the door security officer then also to make the lift work makes you feel safe.
