Basic hotel - did what was required for 1 night stay. Friendly staff was about all the hotel had to offer. The only thing we liked about our stay at the New Royal Hotel was the sea view from our bedroom window. bar should be bigger,2 many stairs ,. The only place you could it in your room was the bed(no chairs)in either double or single room.Even though there was only one other room occupied(to our knowelege)our rooms were on the top floor.Would also like to visit the hotel again once it has been refusbished. Towels would have been nice. Cold, uninviting atmosphere. No-one on reception, were upstairs playing snooker. No advice given re facilities/breakfast, etc. Internet not working - no attempt to rectify. Twisting corridors, lots of stairs - not for disabled or pushchairs. No workspace, no chair. No light switch by bed. TV mounted high up with no remote. Freezing bathroom. No soap. Poor shower. Only 3 parking spaces. The Hotel has a night club integrated into the building, I was on the 2nd floor and it sounded like the room below was having a loud party. I was cold in the room with the inadequate storage heating. I canceled my room for the second week and was billed all the same. I would encourage anyone to search around the area for alternative rooms as they are cheaper and better. The parking is bad. This hotel should be removed from your website, we booked a quad room as I was taking my mum and my two daughters aged 14 and 11 for two days break at Whitley Bay in the easter school holidays. The website does not tell people that this hotel has a nightclub. We were wakened at midnight by huge groups of people outside at this nightclub making unbelievable noise until after 4am!!!!!!.
