The warm efficient welcome on check-in and every time we dined was genuine and right across the entire team. The bedroom was so quaint and well laid out and being in the courtyard was quiet novel and convenient, especially as we were out and about both days horse riding at Willington Hall Stables. The quality of the food was excellent from breakfast right throughout the day being so fresh and very reasonable priced (OMG the Mediterranean Mussels are the best!) The overall quirkiness of staying .

Also I had asked for flowers and champagne to be put in my room, this was done for me without a problem!!! All staff were totally superb. Excellent double bed very comfortable and plenty of pillows. Breakfast was very good and set us up for the day, however service was a little slow when dinning room became full but the staff where willing and trying very hard to please. Lovely place with great food, comfortable and spacious family room (2 adults and 3 kids). Room rate was super value. Location is excellent in relation to both Chester and Cheshire Oaks. Lovely pub style hotel but very nicely done. Food was great. Staff very helpful and friendly. Room was very clean and comfortable with plasma TV and ensuite, crisp white sheets. Staff were very friendly and very welcoming. Food was excellent. We booked a family room but didn't bring the kids. They knocked the price down without asking which was kind. On arrival our greeting was a little off, it was as if to say oh you are here then, can't you see how rushed we are and I haven't really got time to take care of you. This may sound harsh as things did improve quickly, but those first few moments cost ratings. Nothing!. Service was a little slow at dinner. Small point, but rooms have very little fresh air due to small windows. All good. Nothing at all - it was all excellent. despite putting it on my initial booking and phoning the night before to confirm that I am disabled and had great difficulty with stairs, my room was up two flts..... two very able people checked in at same time and were given ground floor rooms, they did offer to swap me for the second night but as I only had to climb the stairs up once more I didn't feel I could repack my case then unpack again........ Nothing, it's our 4th visit and I'm certain we'll be back here. Nothing. Only 1 small round window so stuffy and hot. Needs air conditioning or at least a fan. rooms quite dark downstairs. Parking. Luckily we just squeezed into the last spot in the car park, but I could easily see it being impossible to park. nothing. parking was limited. Little bit on the pricey side. Family room was a bit cramped for 5 but ok. I can't say I disliked anything. Nothing wrong. Limited car parking. Shower wasn't powerful enough. Twin beds, shower a bit tricky - I rarely stay anywhere that has an adequate shower!. Room was small. Plumbing less than desirable. Nothing not to like, very cosy. nothing. No internet access in the particular room that I had (apparently usually available in other rooms). Nothing. Nothing. Only thing we didn't like was the shower was not very good. Difficult to check out if you want a receipt! This is an old coaching inn with lots of atmosphere, but, the rooms are small and outdated. Maybe it cannot be modernised?. Noisy position with lots of traffic noise and church clock which strikes during the night.
