The Grainary is a working farm, with a B&B on the side, so if you like the atmosphere of a farm, off on the edge of the moors, you'll love it. Children are especially well catered for, as they have every imaginable farm animal in the fields near the house, plus dogs, rabbits, a ferret and certainly one or two I've missed. We loved the food in the restaurant it was delicious, well presented and nothing was a bother, the breakfast was lovely as well.
we were celebrating a 60th birthday and the staff could not have been more helpful they joined us for a dringk on the saturday evening.
we may have been a little noisy at times but still they did not mind.

Good location to explore the area. Close to Scarborough, Whitby and the North Yorkshire moors. Ten minute drive into Scarborough. 20 Minutes to Whitby and approx 45 Minutes to Bridlington. Nice old pub to stay at. Didn't actually occupy a room in the pub but the exterior accommodation in a converted annex was very comfortable. Enjoyed the company of the friendly locals in the pub. Food was excellent and the manager and staff were very friendly.

Situated opposite the harbour. the views from the front bedrooms were great. The room we had was spacious with tea, coffee, bottled water and toiletries provided. Bedroom and bathroom were very clean and there was a small table & chairs at the window so we could watch the world go by. All the staff were excellent and welcoming. The entrance, bar and lounge have been recently renovated and look far better than 7 years ago when I last stayed here. The lift is ‘Quirky’ with a certain old fashioned charm. Redecoration has just started on the staircase (Nov 2013) and I am sure it will be better for the work. The location for shopping is excellent and the hotel has its own secure underground car park, although it is a short walk from the hotel. The food is the best in Scarborough.

Though some of the corridors had that slightly battered look of many
older seaside hotels, the bedroom was very comfortable and the public
rooms most attractive. The bathroom was a decent size and well equipped.
Breakfast was excellent: buffet breakfasts certainly have their
advantages, but it was a pleasant change to be served by attentive staff
from a generous menu with a great view of the South Bay.
