There was a mistake in booking me into a smoking room and when I advised reception I was transferred immediately into a room on a higher floor with better views.   Ottimo servizio - I'd never stayed at The Athenaeum before but I will be back. Although I booked a standard double at a very deep discounted rate (typically this means getting the box room next to the staff quarters), I was given an apartment room which was really a suite.
