The manager, Pedro, was great and especially kind when I got ill during my stay (nothing to do with them, I'm currently in hospital being treated for malaria after spending time in Tanzania). The breakfast - according to my husband - was excellent and the little village is lovely. Hotel is friendly and the surrounding area is beautiful. - Fantast... cosa dice la gente » ic welcome - the most dog-friendly place I have ever stayed in. The food was also exceptional - local produce with imaginative twists and beautifully cooked. The location is central in the village and the views of the surrounding hills are amazing. It is a wonderful historic building with nooks, crannies and beams everywhere.

Very nice coaching inn with a long history and lots of character, a labyrinth of rooms and low beams. Conveniently located in the middle of Crickhowell (obvious once you spot it, but I managed to drive past it twice), with plenty of parking space through the old coach archway. The bed was very comfortable and I had an excellent supper in the bar -... cosa dice la gente » it looked to be full at first sight but in fact it extends through several rooms so you should be able to find a table in one of them. - The Bear is a great place to stay. The staff were friendly and the welcome was warm. For an old building, the decoration is spot on and the attention to detail is impressive. We ate in the bar both evenings and had wonderful food. It was busy, but had a nice atmosphere. The breakfasts were very good too. I'd highly recommend to anyone staying in this part of Wales.

The room wasn’t very large, but quite enough, and comfortable. Our room had a great view of the valley. The bathroom was large and well-decorated (looked newly renovated, or at least very well maintained) with very high ceiling, giving a lovely feeling of space. There’s a large guest lounge downstairs, which seems nice to relax in. The owners were... cosa dice la gente » kind and caring, and we felt welcome. The B&B is up the hillside, some 10 minute walk (or 2 minute drive) from the town, but up a steep gradient - Lovely hotel and very warm welcome by the owners with tea and Welsh cakes. Nothing was too much trouble and we were made to feel very welcome at all times during our stay. We wish we'd had a few more nights to stay and would definately go back.

Maxine was extremely friendly and attentive. The place is very clean and thoughtfully set out, and it has a quiet, attractive lounge. I loved the carpet in the restaurant for breakfast, there must be some very thick underlay under there! The choice for breakfast to was fantastic though I do think they cut one fillet of smoked haddock in half and shared it between the two of us! Though it was lovely. The hotel itself is beautiful on the outside set in a stunning location and the entrance hall, bar and restaurant is beautifully designed. I d - We stayed at The Old Rectory for the last night of the Green Man Festival at Glanusk Park. After 3 nights of festival camping, anywhere with hot water and a flushing toilet would have been luxurious, but our room (number 14) was fantastic. The room was large and very nicely laid out. The bed was extremely comfortable but the real show-stopper was the bathroom - complete with a huge shower and a whirlpool bath! The room was spotlessly clean and the staff were friendly and helpful.
