It was comfortable and warm and the half, especially the young receptionist, were very friendly. lovely room ,nice quiet coffee lounge and beautiful gardens. the restaurant and service was brilliant. Location of hotel met all our needs. Helpful, obliging staff.Staff very efficient and very accommodating with any problems I had. No fuss no dramatics no arguments just good old fashioned solutions. That was much appreciated. Breakfast chef was excellent, a real asset to the hotel. Helpful friendly staff. Dissappointed that when we booked for two apartments we only got one and only found out upon arriving. Confined access off a busy road. The room, described as a double, was a bit on the small side. Only downside the hotel is across the road from a hospital but not too much noise.banging door...it could have been padded!. apartments not connected to hotel.not clear on reservation. Too hot. The heating in the room could have been better. Very small room, but comfortable. There was a foul smell in the corridor leading to the room. Inside the room there was no smell though.Too hot in hotel especially room and no fan. Drinks were expensive. we did not feel the reception staff were up to the correct standard. I would like to have known when I booked that the restaurant was not available that night due to a party. I usually stay at Premier Inns where generally the rooms are of equal standard but larger. I personally thought that the room was not as clean as it could be. There was dust and debris around the skirting board and dirty food marks on the television desk. I also did not think that the bed was very clean as though it could have been slept in before myself. the noisey water boiler or whatever it was that clicked on and woke me up every hour or so. Breakfast was not well organised - not enough staff. service at breakfast very poor. poor service during breakfast. no bar area to have a drink and watch football on sky. Only 1 staff member serving breakfast on Tuesday 21st. (I felt very sorry for him!). the bar staff did not seem to like his job when we asked him what brand he had in certain drinks he did not know and while serving us although we tried to have a light conversation with him he did not want to know and in my opinion his silence was taken as rude. We tried to make a drink in our room the kettle was not working, when another one was brought to us that did not work eigther. Excessive time delay to service for breakfast. The hotel heating system was not working properly. Even with the windows fully open and the curtains open, we were unable to cool the room below 33 degrees C (even though it was 15 degrees C outside. The manager was unsympathetic and was not prepared to offer another room or consider any other compensation. It was impossible to sleep due to the heat. The reception staff were rude. The breakfast was poor and tables dirty.
