Excellent hotel in practically all respects. We had a beautiful spacious room, the bathroom had a bath tub as well as a shower in it, the staff were very friendly, polite and helpful, giving us accurate answers to our enquiries, and the breakfast was so plentiful it could keep you going for the rest of the day. It's located in a beautiful spot on the bank of a loch. It's an ideal place to stay if you have a car, otherwise you need a taxi or bus to get to the town - or you can just walk, which, .

We had inadvertently NOT made clear that we wished a double room .. and we had initially been allocated a twin room .. we were lucky that a double room was available .. and we were reallocated to this one .. (Thank you !) we will make sure we don't miss putting that in the comments when it is not clear, next time. Great on site carparking. Good old fashioned service. Staff very friendly and nothing too much trouble. Beautiful location and very good facilities. Exceptionally clean. Well priced and good range of food in the Restaurant. Compared to the budget hotel the night before there was just no comparison for the same price and it included a hearty breakfast. A Scottish hotel at its best!. 1) The single room was spacious and comfortable. 2) Breakfast had a wide selection and substantial. 3) Care for dietary problems providing wheat free food. 4) Excellent evening meal cooked to perfection. 5) Wonderful panoramic view of the loch from the dining room and lounge. 6) Widely stocked bar. 7) Very friendly and helpful staff. I found the hotel welcoming and friendly. The staff were pleasant professional and helpful.They all smiled!! The bedroom was very comfy and clean at all times. We ate in the hotel restaurant for the 6 evenings we stayed and enjoyed the choice and service we received. Breakfast was delicious. We would definitely return in the future. the views were great and a brilliant location for hill walkers. Pet and Children friendly . There was even a retractable washing line over the bath... plus an ironing room for guests. Clean towels every day if required. all went quite after 11pm, so guest could get a good nights sleep. The staff were friendly and helpful. Location was good with a fabulous view from the dining room and bar over water and mountains. Food was very good and reasonably priced. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. Room was big and comfy but a little dark as it was to the rear of the hotel but the views from the front rooms with balconies would be fabulous. We were staying in the area as my husband was competing in the City2Summit event. We didn't know what time we would arrive, and we also had our dogs with us. The hotel couldn't have been more accommodating, the room was perfect, they were well organised re the dogs and the hotel served our purposed perfectly. This was our fifth visit and the Clan MacDuff seems to improve each time we visit. It is friendly and comfortable and the staff cannot do enough to make your stay special. The breakfasts are excellent and the service first class. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel. I look forward to our next visit. Reception staff are exceptional and the restaurant staff are fantastic . after Monday evening the menu and quality of food was out of this world. The staff were very professional but still relaxed and friendly. They were happy to put some of our food in the kitchen fridge so it stayed cold or us. Very good service. Also despite being quite busy the kitchen served food very quickly and it was delicious. W had magnificent views from our very comfortable and spacious room. Close to the base of Ben Nevis, the station to catch the Jacobite steam train, and some beautiful mountain hikes, not to mention an awesome view of the lake. i arrived just as dinner was stopped being served but was told i could go in to the bar area and they would see if i could get something which i was able to do. i liked to mention the breakfast staff where also brilliant in meeting my needs. This is one of the best places we have stayed at, everything was very homely. The view of the loch in the lounge were fantastic. Restaurant food was good with good variety and breakfast was excellent. Would recommend this hotel. Good value. We liked the comfort of the hotel and the way in which we were attended by the staff. Two of my ladies were using walking sticks and were helped at all times. The room they shared was at the front and had beautiful views over Loch Linnie. Spacious, clean room with fantastic views on the lake, friendly and helpful staff, wi-fi. Beautiful location but make sure you have (hire) a car. It's an easy 5 minutes ride from Fort William but a 30-40 minutes walk (not less)!. The room was comfortable, with a large bed. View of Loch was lovely. Nice having a bar and restaurant with a good view and the food was good. Very good breakfast with many choices. Not a charming place, but more than adequate. Friendly staff, warm and cosy. This hotel had a wonderful setting over looking the Loch and mountains. Our room was quiet and comfortable the food was excellent good quality and value for money. Loved the restaurant both for breakfast and evening meals and staff there friendly and helpful. Room was adequate although window was straight onto rock. Nothing, really. We didn't have a car, which impeded our conveyance to and from town at times, but that was more our problem, and the hotel might lose some of its attraction if it stood closer to town. Mattress was a bit lumpy!. Cant think of anything to dislike!. we were very very disappointed with the food. The second night we ate out. Room a little dark. What was not to like?!. Could not find fault of any description. We arrived on a Monday and judging from the choice and standard of the Menu on offer for evening meals is the Chefs night off. The bar doesn't open until after 6pm. The Lounge bar was lacking in atmosphere. I feel that Some sofas and maybe a centred fire/fire pit with logs would add atmosphere and create the feeling of warmth and encourage visitors to stay and enjoy this space. The breakfast was great though I felt that the food wasnt prepared as fresh as per each order. It feel as though it had been prepared well in advance and kept in a ban marie as the food was well presented but was very moist to touch and soft to eat. no internet service or pretty low service. the room was behind the reception and could hear voices sometimes. A little bit out of town but that was fine. Breakfast service was in general good, but sometimes a bit sluggish. The desk clerk upon arrival needs to retire or take some charm lessons. Would it be possible to keep 1 bedroom dog free? It didn't spoil the fantastic stay but I had to use my inhaler during the night. The hot water was not very warm. Just a few minor cleanliness issues: The corner of our shower had mold growing in the grout. The grout and sealant need to be removed, area cleaned, and regrouted/sealed. Also the hot water dispenser for tea was filthy. It needs a good scrubbing. I decided not to use it because it was so dirty. The rest of the room was clean and comfortable. Reception staff efficient but not particularly welcoming. Some noise from hallway and other rooms (e.g. thumping/creaking from the room above) - not really a problem for us as we were travelling with a white noise machine and earplugs. Need to ride in to town. A little too far. We only had one night to spend there. We always bring our dog, and we wish there was somewhere, like part of the bar area, or the sitting room (the one which has the rocking horse) where we could sit with him in the evening. Only one of us could get online this time, for some reason. Nothing. Nothing to fault. Nothing. Not applicable. The toilet in our room did not flush well, and the drawers and shelves inside the "closet" needed dusting. Bathroom windows need coverings: we could see a woman showering in one of the front windows. There was nothing we did not like. Problems logging onto the Wifi link. The annexe appears to be out of range. Apparently, this has been a problem for others staying there (according to staff at the hotel). The food wasn't up to the standard of the rest of the hotel. Bathroom sink had separate faucets preventing temp adjustment. Shower on the small side, but adequate. I can't think of anything I didn't like about this hotel. Our room was at the back of the hotel with no outlook. Receptionist who greeted us on arrival bordered on indifference. S.
