  Hostal Veracruz is very nice and has clean rooms with AC and own bathrooms. It is very close to Sol, so really in very center of Madrid and Spain.   Beautiful. Elegant. Clean. Almost new. Great staff. Amazing location. Cheap. Air conditionning during summer. Great view (8th floor). Elevator. Security staff during night. Very quiet for central location! - I liked the location and it was a quiet hotel even though it was on a busy street.

  We really enjoyed our stay and everything was beyond expectation. Perfect position for seeing everything Madrid has to offer.   Absolutely loved everything about this place. On arrival the staff were incredibly helpful. The apartment was immaculately clean, very spacious for 5 of us, and of a high standard. We're approximately 10 metres from The main square and from the main night club where we spent our time! The staff is very friendly and helful and rooms look like normal hotel rooms. The accomadations were really great in terms of price/quality. The location is the best you can have, being 5 minutes way from Plaza Mayor or Puerta del Sol, Mercado de San Miguel, Gran Via, etc. Definetly the place to stay whenever we go to madrid.
