The biggest bonus of this little family-run place is its unrivalled location facing the Royal palace. Staff are very responsive and punctual and the place has the charm of a 18th century building.

It's not a hotel in conventional way. I like the ambience and all the elegant deco with a home style. Quite and lots of privacy in good location like this is really extrodinary.
Very friendly staff provided good help on the train schedule and wifi in short/late time.
We met the hostress when leaving at the door and she was a nice lady!
Unique experience and strongly recommend to those people interested in culture.

The location is fantastic, you can walk outside, cross a small road and walk into a market! The metro is 5/10 minutes walk away and there is loads of places to eat. The staff are lovely, carried my bags for me and couldnt help you enough. The price is great for what you get! this was my 3rd stay in this hostel and I spoke to others staying in other hostels paying more and they wernt anywhere near as good!

The staff was very kind and helpful, and the hostel has an excellent location in the center, just next to Plaza Mayor, 5 minutes from Palacio Real and in front of the hostel there is the market San Miguel which has one of the best offer of foods. -

Location was great - just around the corner from Opera Metro station. Very, very clean and beds comfortable. We had a room at the back to no traffic noise at all. è davvero un ottimo hotel....va sicuramente consigliato! staff cordiale, posizione ideale, e camere perfettamente pulite...anche se un po piccole, ma non credo sia un dramma per brevi soggiorni. - posizione ottima centralissima a 100 m dalla metro, ottima pulizia e disponibilità da parte della reception camere silenziose... ci ritornerei.

cortesia,pulizia, - l'ottima posizione, la disponibilità del personale, la confortevolezza della camera(sempre in proporzione al prezzo) che si è rivelata pulita con gli asciugamani forniti dall'hotel, al mattino passava la donna delle pulizie a mettere in ordine. c'è l'ascensore. la ragazza della "reception" ci ha tenuto le valigie l'ultimo giorno

We spent just one night at the Hostal Macarena, when passing Madrid on our way back from holiday. It's a lovely place in the heart of Madrid (Plaza Mayor is just behind the corner!), surrounded by many bars, restaurants and little stores. The room is quite small, but well equipped and clean. Staff doesn't speak very good English, but is very nice.

Location, location, location! Two steps from the plaza Mayor and many other attractions, located on a little street with animation. Staff is courteous and helpful. They kept our luggage all day so we could walk around freely untill we left to take the train. Room was clean, confortable and big enough. Very good quality for the price. I recommend this hotel wihtout any hesitation.

Excellent location, friendly and helpful staff, 24h reception. Rooms were small but cosy, and with plenty of space to put your luggage/stuff, big tables (if you want to use your laptop etc), minifridge. With the windows closed there is no problem with the noise from the busy street on which it is located.

Perfect location, super close/walking distance to everything. Comfortable for a weekend stay in Madrid and perfect for quick relaxation during the day and sleeping at night.

1. Very friendly staff.
2. Very clean.
3. Reliable wi-fi in the rooms
4. Position: close to many historical sights - Sol, Real palace etc.;
Direct commuter trains from Sol to Chamartin and Atocha stations as well as to El Escorial. On the way from/to Barajas airport it's better to make change at Nuevos Ministerios station.

The location of Hostal Gala is excellent, a 5 minute walk from Gran Via and Puerto Del Sol. The staff are super welcoming and friendly, always ready to help and advise on where to go and what to do. The hostal is also kept very clean and the cleaning staff are very friendly and helpful as well. Although the rooms do not have safe deposit boxes, security and leaving passports/money behind was never a cause for concern. This is a place I would recommend and stay at again!

Location is fantastic. WiFi in room was very welcome and unexpected in a
small pension like this one. The hosts, husband and wife, spoke only
Spanish but were very friendly and helpful. The decor of this pension is
a jump back in time by at least 50 years, if you like that sort of thing
(which I did).
