  The apartments are right in the centre of town and the restaurants are all within a few minutes walk. The studio apartment we had was spacious by Japanese standards.   Kind, helpful host (we had no problems communicating even though we can't speak Japanese), wonderful breakfasts, great facilities. Our room had a wonderful view. It's incredibly hot in Tokyo at this time of year (august) but it was much cooler in Nozawaonsen. We slept with the windows open at night and needed no aircon or fan. A lovely place.   The staff were fantastic. We were spending the first few days of our honeymoon at the Roykan and they went out of their way to make us feel welcome, booking us restaurants, lift passes etc. their grasp of English was limited but enough to get everything sorted and it was on the far reaches of the resort but still only a 5 min ( all be it uphill) w... cosa dice la gente » alk to the lifts. It also had its own onsen. In all I cannot recommend this lovely, traditional Ryokan enough.
