We liked the location and the family atmosphere. We feel like we experienced what it is like to live there. The breakfasts were generous and delicious and the hosts were very accomodating to us. We just wish we knew more Italian as they know very little english. But even that was fun.

The owners were wonderful - Alphonsa spoke excellent English having lived in Canada for a period of time so we had great conversations with her about Sicily. Very helpful, jovial, ready to assist in whatever requirement, without being intrusive. The place is a little oasis in the middle of what seems to be nowhere but in reality is just a 10mins drive to Ortigia, being therefore close to town.   We had an excellent week at Casa di Melo, the room was lovely, staff were all very charming friendly and helpful. They offered a wonderful 4 course Sicilian meal in the evening, made with locally sourced organic ingredients. We ate there every evening and were delighted with each meal. The smell of orange blossom as we arrived home each evening was fantastic. Chiara, - Great breakfasts using produce from the farm and excellent cakes and pastries made fresh everyday. The lady looking after the breakfast service was very friendly, efficient and constantly smiling. We ate both evenings in the dining room and had 4 course fixed menu for 25 euros. The food was tradional and freshly cooked, again using local produce and was very tasty. The pool area was clean and set in pleasant gardens with ample seating. Just the place to stay and relax or to visit one of the man
