  The place is in a relatively safe neighborhood, if you can say such thing for Rio at all, the staff speaks english and are very helpful. The place is clean and almost has no guests so we were alone in 6 out of 9 nights in a 8-bed dormitory.   The Hostel is in a wonderful mansion with big gardens and a pool. The family stilll live in the house and are very friendly and speak excellent English. We sat with them and watched football on the TV, drank some beers and the dad orded a pizza for us- it felt more like a home stay then a hostel. - Everything was just good. Pretty distant from subway, yeah... but not a big problem if to use buses, for me personally it was even more interesting to get to the place. The Corcovado tram is just in 5 minutes walking.
