San Francisco Hôtels

We stay at the Huntington frequently when we come to SF. My family and I have stayed there for years and with good reason. It's unique among small luxury hotels because all the rooms are different. You do need to know which rooms to book so browse the site carefully and inquire if you've never stayed there before. Everyone's taste varies, so its important to know which room decor or room types you prefer as they are not the same like the Ritz or most hotels. But once you know this and you do a l - Caroline

Like stepping into the past, our beautiful room was romantic and peaceful. The canopy bed was very comfortable and we were able to leave the windows open so we could hear the fog horns from the Golden Gate Bridge in the distance. The hotel's staff was very accommodating, especially the concierge, Roberto, who helped us both nights we were there with dinner reservations. Both of his recommendations were spot-on, and we got the perfect table with views of the bay at McCormick's when we mentioned h - Barry

We spent 4 nights at Hotel Adagio. The price was great, the in room honor bar was convenient. Good coffee available in the room as well. The complimentary hot tea in the lobby in the evenings was a nice surprise. The hotel is so close to Union Square you are there in less than 5 minutes. Our meeting was in another hotel that was 3 blocks away so the walk to the meeting was easy and quick. The room was comfortable. The ceiling fan was nice to have on. This is a gorgeous hotel. The staff is excellent, with some of the nicest, courteous and most professional people that I have encountered in a long while. The decorations in my room were beautiful! Also, the lobby is out of this world, with an over sized chair and fireplace that are very fun and inviting. The hotel boasts a great club/lounge/restaurant that seems to have all the beautiful people in San Francisco grace it's doors. One quibble however. Housekeeping knocks on doors at 8 am. - Emma

The Donatello is perfectly located one block from from Union Square, so you're surrounded by amazing shopping, restaurants and cable car stops. The hotel staff was wonderful-helpful with maps, umbrellas, cabs-anything we needed was provided quickly and pleasantly! The room was very large-my husband and I shared the king size bed, while my daughter slept on the pull out sofa bed, and we had plenty of room to maneuver. We stayed at the hotel over a long weekend, prior to leaving for Ireland and we had the best time at the hotel. Six women, ranging in age from 17 to 50, we walked from the hotel to Chinatown, caught the transit up the street and rode to Pier 39 one day, went to the farmer's market up in the square the morning we left. We did not feel safe leaving the hotel on foot at night, we saw a few drug transactions on the streets as we walked around during the day and lots of homeless people at the donut s - Anthony

It's expensive relative to others but you do get what you pay for. Location was unbeatable and the tram stops on the corner, so it's easy to hop into the town or down to the bay. The hotel opposite has a roof top bar but get there early as we had to queue! - Julian

My first trip to San Francisco and I picked this hotel because I got a great deal. I loved the neighborhood (Japantown), it was not as busy as most of the city, quieter, safer, surrounded by great Japanese restaurants, and always had at least 3 cabs waiting outside to wisk us away to the clubs. My next trip to SF I will definitely stay there again! - Alan

Stayed here last May. Initial impressions were a little negative but staff were very friendly and complimentary breakfast was great. The location was excellent and overall was very enjoyable stay. Will stay again definately. Do not be put off by the the fish tank theme rooms. - Valerie

This hotel was tip top. Bit of a sketchy location but we had no problems with anyone and walked along the street several times each day. We found the Americans very friendly and the receptionists where lovely to us espeically the beautiful one from Uzbekistan who i want to marry. Overall though the staff where very helpful and i would recommend checking out the ruby skye nightclub and thank you again for putting up with 4 drunken English clowns. Dan Burnett - Kevin

A friend from high school and I went to San Francisco for a week Oct 25 – Nov 1. We stayed at the wonderful Tuscan Inn. From the time we got there until we left we were treated superbly. The front desk and the concierge staff were very helpful when we had a question. The morning coffee and tea and the afternoon reception were wonderful. Housekeeping was efficient and friendly. We have stayed at this hotel many times and will continue coming back since it is our favorite in SF. The rooms are beautiful and the staff is always top notch. I left my jewelry in the safe once and they found it all and actually met me at a convenient location and gave it to me! They usually upgrade us to a junior suite when they are available.
