  The staff were very friendly , welcoming and always ready to help. The location , set in woods and hills above Lake Windermere , is fantastic. As for the hotel , it had character and charm , with some very appealing features. The food was excellent. - Attention to detail and being made extremely welcome

  The excellent food, and the friendly staff - Staff very friendly. Arts and crafts furniture outstanding. The lunch was of a very high standard. Views superb. A place to relax and unwind.

  Everything about the Hotel is first class. From the moment we checked in the staff are so friendly and very professional everything was excellent. It was my birthday and we had chocolates left in the room and also a nice touch there had been placed a hot water bottle in the bed. Never had that before.   this was our first visit to the lamplighter we were very impressed with the friendliness of all the staff we arrived with our 2 cavalier dogs who were made a big fuss of we also were asked if we wanted to eat in a separate room so the dogs could be with us which we declined as they are more than happy to stay in their sleeping crate .the breakfas... ce que les gens disent » t was superb as were the meals in the restaurant at night initially we were only going to eat in there one night but it was so good we ate every nig - The innkeepers were charming! The hotels rooms newly decorated and the kingsize beds very comfortable with lovely pillows. The breakfast was also particularly delicious, with fresh juices, Greek yogurt with berry compote for example. They accommodated well for special vegetarian requests, even going out for veggie sausage for us for our second day's breakfast. Well done and thank you for a fantastic stay! Mr and Mrs Ryan

  We were greeted by a very friendly man who couldn't do enough for us. He allowed us into our room much earlier than usual as we wanted to get ready for a wedding nearby. The room was lovely, clean and had all the necessary bits and bobs we needed (including a hand-held magnifying mirror!). Beds were comfortable, the bathroom was light and clean. ... ce que les gens disent » Breakfast was good, plenty of it and good, prompt service. Would recommend this hotel to others. - A lovely inn with good, clean rooms and a good sized ensuite bathroom ..and, at times, a working TV... sinceours didn't work!. However, everybody pulled out all the stops to get the TV in working order; alas, it was not to be. We were offered free drinks as compensation in the pub, which we appreciated very much. Other than this amusing story, we had a great time in this lovely place and would definitely go back!
