The staff are welcoming and extremely helpful. The Mortal Man is a traditional old man set in beautiful countryside with some lovely walks near by. The food is very good and the breakfast menu is excellent, made more lovely by sitting in the dining room overlooking the scenery. The beds are comfortable, water piping hot for a nice soak in a bath

The location was superb.
In the entrance was comfy sofas and a wood burning fire very cosy. The evening meals were huge portions and yummy. The view from the kitchen was spectacular. All the facilities such as showers and toilets were clean and lots of hot water. The bedrooms were nice and warm as well. -

this was our first visit to the lamplighter we were very impressed with the friendliness of all the staff we arrived with our 2 cavalier dogs who were made a big fuss of we also were asked if we wanted to eat in a separate room so the dogs could be with us which we declined as they are more than happy to stay in their sleeping crate .the breakfas

The innkeepers were charming! The hotels rooms newly decorated and the
kingsize beds very comfortable with lovely pillows. The breakfast was
also particularly delicious, with fresh juices, Greek yogurt with berry
compote for example. They accommodated well for special vegetarian
requests, even going out for veggie sausage for us for our second
day's breakfast. Well done and thank you for a fantastic stay! Mr

We were greeted by a very friendly man who couldn't do enough for us. He allowed us into our room much earlier than usual as we wanted to get ready for a wedding nearby. The room was lovely, clean and had all the necessary bits and bobs we needed (including a hand-held magnifying mirror!).
Beds were comfortable, the bathroom was light and clean.

A lovely inn with good, clean rooms and a good sized ensuite bathroom ..and, at times, a working TV... sinceours didn't work!. However, everybody pulled out all the stops to get the TV in working order; alas, it was not to be. We were offered free drinks as compensation in the pub, which we appreciated very much. Other than this amusing story, we had a great time in this lovely place and would definitely go back!

Loved everything about our stay here. Really friendly and helpful staff who are all a credit to the hotel. Room had great view across to the lake. Large comfy bed, loads of storage space, hot and powerful shower, huge bath towels and more. Would definitely recommend evening meal at hotel. Food cooked to order so served fresh and hot. Excellent accomodation. - A nice warm welcome on arrival, clean comfortable room, excellent full english breakfast, staff were attentive but not intrusive and very well mannered, also useful was the information given in room for local places to have evening meals which we found very helpful. Hotel was in a great location for getting around the Lake District.

Everything about the Hotel is first class. From the moment we checked in the staff are so friendly and very professional everything was excellent. It was my birthday and we had chocolates left in the room and also a nice touch there had been placed a hot water bottle in the bed. Never had that before.
