Suppose the decor was not right up to date but room was big, it was tidy, (no marks on walls, no signs of looking tired at all), bed was comfy, loads of tea and coffee, bathroom was also large and everywhere was super clean.   Small establishment so the personal touch made a difference. Travelling into the city centre was very quick and easy so our initial concerns about being to far out of the city were not necessary. Cakes on arrival were lovely. Breakfast was plentiful and lots of choice - lovely welcome from Simon and Angus the dog, room was fantastic as was the bathroom having the choice of bath or shower was fantastic, Susans BL cakes were devine so much so we brought some extras to bring home. Breakfast was amazingly good. couldnt have asked for nicer hosts nothing was too much trouble, many thanks for the lift to liverpool docks, a real home from home.   Dave the hotel owner is a superb host. He couldn't do enough for his guests. Hotel is work in progress but so far impressive. Even dropped us off at the railway station to save us getting a taxi when we left. Breakfast was plentiful and cooked well.   The location is ideal for the Birkenhead-Belfast ferry ( 5 mins). Also the Mersey tunnel. It is also directly opposite the train station into Liverpool. The hotel itself is an old building but i found it very clean with very helpful staff from reception to dining room. The food was very good,both evening dinner and a hearty breakfast. In summery a very good value for money. - EXcellent location, it is opposite Birkenhead Central station; I left a laptop charger in our room and the staff were very helpful when I wanted to recover it. Very convenient for the Mersey ferry and wartime German U-boat museum.
