The morning prayers were very interesting. There are two parts - chants at the prayer room, followed by the fire ritual at a shrine beside the temple. It can take more than an hour so it may not be appealing to those who are not interest or impatient. The temple is located near to Okunoin, so you can go for a walk there early in the morning or at

Koyasan is absolutely beautiful, and definitely worth a trip out of the
hustle and bustle of Osaka. Eko-in was very good. A beautiful temple in
lovely surroundings and very peaceful. The staff were very friendly and
polite. I was a bit nervous about the shared bathroom, but it didn't
end up being too bad and I actually ended up having a wonderful relaxing
soak in the bath on my own. The other concern I had was about the food
as it is vegetarian buddhist cuisine and I'm not a fan of tofu! But
