I was expecting a nice, clean, modern budget freindly hotel. the rate was only 179 per night which is cheap by nyc standards no matter what part of the city you're in. It was all that I expected but when I arrived, for some reason they upgraded me.   The staff were just excellent. Requests were responded to immediately, and the bellmen were wonderful. On several occasions they and the concierge gave us great advice about transportation, places to eat, and things to do, and they always were smiling and friendly. The room was very quiet. It is not a luxury hotel but is very comfortable and affordable.

  I liked how the staff went out of their way to accommodate our requests even though they did not have to. The room we stayed in 814 had an amazing view of midtown manhattan and was very quiet. The rooms were very nice, comfortable, and clean. There is a subway station right next door to the hotel which gives you easy access to all of NYC. I had Room 301, the biggest one on the floor. Very comfortable bed, enough space for your stuff and very clean. I have been many times in NYC and the Lower East Side has become a hot spot, therefore the location of the Hotel is also good. Subway is only 2 blocks away. Very friendly staff and the restaurant in the basement is serving an outstanding omelet :-)
