With views across York’s medieval walls, Grays Court is a beautiful historic house with leafy gardens, a quaint tearoom and free Wi-Fi. The grand house is situated beside York Minster, and was once home to King James I. The stylish bedrooms feature fine linens and antique furniture. Rooms also have an iPod dock and flat-screen satellite TV, and all offer scenic views of the gardens or ancient city. The Parlour serves lunch, and there is also an evening restaurant. Hearty full English breakfasts are served daily. Guests can relax in the pretty gardens, or in the Bow Room with its impressive art collection. The Jacobean Long Gallery with oak panelling, sofas and original paintings is a delightful place to unwind. This country house is steeped in history, and set within the York walls. Grays Court Hotel is a 5-minute walk from the picturesque Shambles shopping streets. The Theatre Royal and York Museum and Gardens are within a 10-minute walk.

The whole trip was fantastic. We arrived late Thursday evening and there was someone there to check us in and show us to our rooms. The room was beautiful, old charm mixed with a modern bathroom. Breakfast was superb, so nice to have a hot choice of breakfast freshly cooked for you in the morning. Breakfast room looked out across the beautiful gardens where we also enjoyed some drinks later in the afternoon. Couldn't fault the place - can't wait to go back!.
kaikki arvostelut » The building and room were very impressive. There was a relaxed atmosphere and I felt like I was experiencing a little bit of luxury whilst staying there. Breakfast was a delight. When we arrived we were shown round and given a complimentary cup of tea. I think u get cookies too as several people saidvthey were coming altho we never got any. But we weren't fussed and I think that this was a wonderful touch. The staff, location, the room...the cookies!! All the staff were excellent from start to finish. The only time we have ever had service like this was last year when we stayed at Grays. We had to come back to experience it all again. This time we had a different room and was so impressed yet again. Thank you so much to all at Grays for making our stay so memorable..we will be back. Wonderful warm welcome. Helped to the room, with offers of tea and coffee. Fabulous building, perfect for a stay in York, very quirky with lots of history. Homely comfortable rooms. Fabulous location right next to the Minster. Great to have parking in this location - advisable to pre-book. Recommend this hotel to couples looking for a romantic short break. The location was fantastic, with on site parking (although limited) the food was amazing the staff very helpful and friendly the owner lovely the accomodation perfect, breakfast was delicious as was the a la carte 5 course evening meal, I can only say good things about Grays Court and we will go back and recommend to all our friends and family. the friendly atmosphere, luxurious surroundings - you feel like you're at home, if home were an elizabethan manor house with exquisite furnishings. It's family run and there's no rush to leave your room in the morning or your table at breakfast. It's has a leisurely atmosphere and beautiful gardens hidden behind the minster. Hospitality of the staff was best I have ever encountered - nothing was too much trouble from moment arrived until departure. Had a small problem with our room, was immediately attended to and we were upgraded to a marvellous room. Excellent location in the city. Extremely well appointed Lovely gardens. Beautiful, historic building with fantastic gardens situated right in the heart of York with York Minster right on your doorstep. An oasis of quiet tranquility to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. The full English breakfast was amazing as was the 5 course gourmet dinner. friendly, welcoming complimentary afternoon tea on arrival, helpful, beautiful choice of freshly prepared cooked breakfast & best of all a private secret garden within the walled City so close to Cathedral to put your feet up with a drink after tramping round the cobbled streets!. The staff were very friendly and efficient. We were made to feel very welcome. A lovely location full of its own history. Excellent location and great food for dinner and breakfast. Absolutely nothing..we hope to return soon. there was nothing to dislike at all... Nothing to not like. Wonderful place. Better suited to couples, rather than families and groups. No lift facilities so not suitable for everyone. Not easy to find, the entrance is tucked away down a narrow street - even the postman didn't know where it was :-). Nothing. maybe they should advertise its an extra £15 to park when you book... Nothing. The room "Elizabeth Gray" has a very large bath which is difficult to get into if you are elderly! However the room itself is wonderful, overloking the gardens and city walls. Having to go home!. The wi-fi wasn't working. The room at night was very hot and we had trouble sleeping. Nothing. Nothing - only slight niggle was that there was only a duvet and no sheet - the duvet was quite warm and I would have liked to have had a sheet instead. If I had realised this before I went to bed I am sure the staff would have provided one. Location,location,superb olde wordly. The weather!. Service and cleaning is not at the same level as expected. Lack of wi fi. Nothing to dislike. Let down by slightly slapdash housekeeping, only minor things but stopped it being perfection. The owner was very friendly but the young girl we saw when checking out the following morning was very rude and brash. They don't serve a vegetarian breakfast which one would expect at a 5* hotel. Service is too casual but not very proactive Bed and pillows. Bed a bit basic as it was an antique...noisy too!. nothing.
