Comfortable room, good value for money, very nice breakfast. Had everything that was needed - nothing fancy. The food was very good. Staff were friendly.Extremely cheap and substantial breakfast. The breakfast meal was very good.Comfortable room, good location. more light at the rear and side of hotel one light was not on. shabby poor food. could do with new decor, but wouldnt stop me staying there again, staff and service are 2nd to none...shower was a bit naff - but that's nit-picking really - it suits my purpose admirably - trip to a meeting, overnight stay with friends, drive home... Decor of staircase for from first to ground floor was poor and in need of rececoration in some places.over priced restaurant, and didnt have a pool room which was stated on website. different room tempretures. room was in poor repair. A tad unkempt around the edges!. Breakfast was busy and had to wait for eggs and bacon to be replenished but tasted ok. Unfortunately the elevator was out of order and the room was at the 2nd floor. Road was noisey most of night. Continual thudding and vibration from the disco (or whatever) on Satnight. Was glad it didn't end too late. Almost went to ask for anotherroom. Soap rack broken in room. Bathroom extractor very noisy (as was atleast that in the next room). Shower did not work and television had very poor reception/lack of picture. Yes. I had to ask for the heating to be turned on twice, even though it was a cold weekend. Various lights did not work in the room. The telephone and the remote for the TV didn't work.hotel is a bit dated 1970s. noise carried between rooms and noisy door closure.Although there vis a wine list on the evening I visited the total amount of wine available was an opened bottle of red and an opened bottle of white wine. The wine list bore no resemeblance to what was available. Having stayed at this hotel in the late 80s, ownership has changed and the hotel is looking tired. I believe from conversations in the hotel that it is due to be re-furbished and no doubt will again recover its former standard. Room was shabby, reasonably clean if you did not look into the corners. Stains, damage to fittings, iron burns and stains on carpet. Not great! See below...would recommend to mate who wanted cheap and cheerful. The room was in need of a fresh lick of paint and a new carpet. It would make all the difference. The toilet wasn't clean (everything else was very clean), I arrived at 10pm and was starving but there was no where to get a snack - they need a vending machine, or even just a couple of biscuits on the tea tray would have been great. The room was too hot and was unable to turn the heat down. Can be noisy with doors slamming at all hours of the night. There were lots of stairs! The lifts were very small. The window in my bedroom did not close properly partly because it needed maintenance.
