Built in 1854 and with numerous restaurants, night-clubs and casinos in the vicinity, this attractive property offers a selection of tastefully decorated en suite accommodation. A number of rooms offer relaxing views of the hotel gardens, which are complemented by a private central courtyard, enabling the hotel to provide a secluded location in which to end an enjoyably hectic day.

A residents' bar is available on-site, with 24 hour access. A function room is available for meetings, conferences and other gatherings of up to 35 people.

The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. The rooms were very clean and comfortable with modern quality en-suite facilities. It was pleasing to see that they have managed to retain the original Victorian features inside the hotel during the renovation work. The breakfast was excellent and again the staff very pleasant and helpful. We would definitely stay again. We actually stayed in the joining hotel next door, and it was lovely i would definately recommend it, food was excellent.

The whole hotel was clean throughout with very polite staff. the staff were very approachable and friendly. The room was excellent very spacious and very clean and modern, we where very pleased with it. The breakfast in the morning was good it was just a short walk next door which was fine, the food and the service quick and efficient, overall we where extremely pleased with everything and would not hesitate to stay there again should we need to be in Birmingham again.It is newly refurbished and pleasant. The breakfast was good and the staff were all helpful. It was very good value for money. Room was lovely...massive bathroom that was so modern and warm. Staff friendliness and helpfulness. personal attention. All the staff were really helpful and the overall service was excellent.I also asked for a quiet room, which was easily arranged for me. I wasnt luxury hotel, but anyway it was realy great. Nice, cleaned rooms, friendly staff, good location, walking distance to the town. the surroundings and décor were as discribed and the hotel was veryclean and tidy.. Excellent value for money, breakfast included. Staff were courteous and helpful. Breakfast was excellent - good coffee, which you don't expect at this price!. Clean Rooms, Good Dining room, excellent staff service. The food which was served at the hotel next door was of a very high standard.The layout of the hotel room was very stylish, which had a dated old English house feel. Brilliant!. Very quiet, the Hotel has changed its name and is part of complex adjoining. The staff were friendly and helpful. Was on a course. Our room was cold. restaurant being in sister hotel next door. No lift - but the offer of assistance from the staff made up for it. The external of the hotel looks as if it is going through an upgrade -the sooner this is completed the better as it is quite off putting fromthe exterior. The travelling time to the nec was unexpectedly long. On agood journey, leaving at 7.40am, it would still take 55 minutes fromdoor to door. there was no plug in the sink...only noticed just before going to bed or I'm sure staff would have rectified things.Not wheelchair friendly, didnt like going next door to eat. The breakfast was excellent but had to go to Hotel next door!. one room was noisy from about 4,00am untill 6.00am with men talking and laughing loudly. The bed was two single mattresses which i do not like. The room was very small. Having to walk ourside to get to breakfast. I would have preferred Breakfast to be cooked to order and not prepared. However, its quality was good. the window in our room was broken and hotel staff were a bit grumpy.TV satilite channels are not available No Towel hangers and rubbish bin in the toilet. I was 10 minutes late for breakfast due to sickness and the staff would not even give me tea and toast. I thought this was utterly unaccommodating and it really put me off the hotel, so I wouldn't stay there again despite the other elements being excellent.wood louse in the bathroom. It seemed that a group who had booked but were not staying at the hotel where given priority over us when it came to supper. We had to go somewhere else in order to eat which really is a bit off when we are guest at the hotel.The hotel offers only the breakfast only in "English style" which not necessarly suits everyone. music in the restaurant- i don't like having to hear music when i am in a public place. knowing now, that this neigbourhood has a lot of other hotels, I would vreconsider. Having to go to the next door Edgbaston Palace Hotel for breakfast was not very convenient especially in the pouring rain, although the breakfast served was good. Also having to leave keys at reception and then trek next door to get someone to let you in was a tad incovenient. Otherwise stay was good.Breakfast could have been better. The billing system needs to be looked as as I have been billed twice by Visa, once when booking in February and when I arrived where I was told it was only a confirmation transaction, but it appeared again on my June Visa Account. I believe it to be a genuine error but I believe it has happened previously and needs attention.There was no lightbulb in the room and no batteries in the remote control. It was under building works which meant I ate in the hotel nextdoor. But it was overall ok. There was a lot of noise and arguing between an overcrowded room of guests and the manager between 2.30 and 4am which wasn't pretty unacceptable for my preparation on the course!.
