  Great value for money. Appreciated the time that the manager took to help plan our visit and to get around, really went above and beyond. Very clean, had what a family needs. Searched a lot of sites for hotels, ryokans for 4 people that didn't break the bank. This had a nice mix of modern and traditional. We didn't need to bring anything other than ourselves and our clothes. It was very spacious for 5 people! There was lots of English around to help us use the appliances!

Although very, conveniently close to a subway station, it is accessed through a "shoutengai" (with all its charm) into a narrow alley and then a narrower one still. We booked in on short notice and were even given a tour of the house. Good facilities, everything you need for a stay. There was a tablet available for internet access which was great. But there is also WiFi available if you need it. Short walk to the town center and right beside a metro and bus stop if needed too. Overall we really enjoyed our stay - Awesome two story authentic Kyoto house with an exceptionally service-oriented staff that is fluent in English. Just remember to keep a note with the address in Japanese and the phone number of the hotel, as many taxi drivers will not find the direction and will call the hotel owners for exact directions. When you have learned its location, you will easily navigate there. Highly recommended!

The rooms are spacious and the lovely old house is in a very convenient location near Gion, downtown Kyoto and the subway.
