  Staff were exceptionally nice and helpful; they were able to give us directions when we called, hopelessly lost. They greeted us warmly when we arrived with hot cups of tea and helped us to find a local restaurant. The next day, they offered to keep our luggage while we went sightseeing. The traditional breakfast in the morning was also very good and well worth the value. - The location is excellent, just 5+ mins walk from the main Kyoto station. Price is reasonable for the service and facilities. Rooms are clean and fully equipped. Staff served tea to us every day when we came back to the ryokan. They have a free cultural night event every night run by volunteer staff. They are so friendly and it was really nice learning about their lives in Kyoto, as well as pick up some origami/calligraphy writing. Highly recommended!

  The staff and facilities far exceeded my expectation for a guesthouse. Beds and furniture seemed new and clean. The bathrooms were clean and had excellent water pressure. The staff was friendly and remembered guests by name. I felt a sense of welcome every time I walked the the door. It's clean, friendly and easy to move around Kyoto. 1) The location was easy to get along the eastern part of Kyoto - very close to Kyomizudera, quite close to Gion. 2) The staffs there are really friendly and fun to be with. 3) Toilets and Showers are clean. Liked that there were many basins outside the shower booths (door closed) so that many people can enter at a time. 4) Each beds are with curtains and was clean.

  Me and my girlfriend stayed for 2 nights in Kyoto, we wanted to try traditional japanese style room. But when we arrived at Ikoi No Ie it occured to us that it was the best choice apart of that what I mentioned. Wheter you planed your visit at Kyoto or not, just look around and you'd probably find something intresting and worth seeing. - A subway station a minute away, also very convenient to the main railway station, (15 min walk or 1 subway station away), in a true old fashioned Kyoto street. Not far to 7/11 & supermarket, we didn't eat out much as 'the right place' was a little more difficult to find (not Japanese speaking).   Authentic Ryokan accommodation and an ideal base from which to explore beautiful Kyoto. We found the location peaceful and accessible and it was easy and safe. Great to have access to a share kitchen and laundry, and the communal lounge was a welcome space to read and eat in. We used the local Fresco store often - really good food. - Every member of the staff knows English and they are always available to help you. One of the few places without curfew. Very good location.
