  Comfortable room, enormous bed, our first time use of a WetRoom -- a delight. Breakfast choices were admirable. Janet and John are welcoming and very friendly. Janet helped our visit enormously with pre-paid, reduced cost tickets to the local attractions of Hardwick and Chatsworth Houses -- a must pair of house visits. The accommodations were excellent and the hosts were very attentive and provided useful local advise on dining and wining. They also accommodated my special request for an early breakfast as I needed to leave before breakfast time. Exceeded my expectations and would go back.

  Beautiful art deco building. Room was very good. Everything you needed including toiletries & biscuits!!! Staff helpful & friendly. Breakfast was fantastic. Hotel called me a couple of days before we arrived to tell me the retaurant would not be open the night of our stay due to a function. They offered to email me addresses of local resta... lo que la gente dice » urants. Very nice thought. - I was greeted by 2 lovely friendly receptionists as I arrived 2 hours earlier than my husband. No question was too much trouble to answer, they even helped with our choice of dinner in town. Again, helpful staff at breakfast. The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas (nothing tacky, just smart). I would definitely stay there again if in the area.

  John and Gilly are fantastic hosts and make you feel really welcome. The cottage is beautiful as is the location and is exactly the sort of place my fiance and I love. We have stayed in many a boutique before now and I can tell you with great confidence, that River Cottage comes extremely high on the list, only to be beaten by Kegworth House on va... lo que la gente dice » lue for money. Having said that the breakfast at River Cottage would take some beating so we'll call it a draw. Wonderful stay and will definitely be - Very friendly & hospitable cover staff whilst owners were away. Location perfect for surrounding area. House & garden fantastic. Good parking. Very clean, well appointed rooms. Fabulous breakfast. All the little details well thought out. Best B&B I've ever stayed at.
