Warm welcome from the staff and landlord. Bar staff, waiters seemed part of a warm team enjoying their jobs. The pub/hotel is pet friendly. We had our medium sized, well-behaved dog in the bedroom, and in breakfast with us one day. The waiter helped with a bowl for leftovers/water. The hotel is in a great location overlooking the tidal Kent estuary. Good walks nearby, Leighton Moss RSPB reserve, regular train service to local stations north and south.

We wanted a real good value pub as a walking base for the weekend, we found one right in the middle of the lakes. From the moment we arrived the staff couldn't do enough for us - big thanks. The food was straightforward, good quality and great value. The beer was exceptional and again great value. We loved all the fires and so did our dogs. The rooms we ok, nothing special, but clean and comfortable. We will be returning again.

Reception girl was really nice, had professional approach to all my questions and tried to help me out whenever we needed..Room was really clean and free wifi was a good facility every one want to use and enjoy..,and free parking..free cancellation if u change ur plan also give u a peace of mind.. -

Always good to find somewhere that takes dogs, and the service road for the services is a nice quiet place to walk dogs too!- especially as there were good things to sniff- due to rabbits! (according to my dog!)

Very friendly and helpful staff. Close to town, within walking distance. Accommodation warm, comfortable and all facilities one would expect. Food not exceptional but tasty and well cooked. All in all a pleasant stay and hope to return one day. -

As a cycling group, several of us arrived late but they kept the kitchen open late to feed us which really was appreciated. Breakfast was fantastic and set us up well for our second day of cycling! Lovely place with friendly staff.

I was a little worried after reading the reviews, but we had no problems at all. Before going i requested a newly refurbished room and it turned out to be a spacious twin, that was clean, comfortable and quiet. I do agree that the rooms are a little warm and the windows don't really open, but other than that we had a comfortable stay. Staff were helpful and polite in general and any requests etc were dealt with straight away. Breakfast is that of a budget hotel, but plenty on offer and all sel

Really enjoyed stay as base for visiting family in Cumbria. We were able to bring our two dogs rather than leave at home for small price per night. This was fabulous for us and a surprise as not realised when booked. Also free car park a real bonus for location and so convienient. Great shower in bathroom and as good as you get anywhere. All in all enjoyed 3 night stay with location short distance to walk to castle and park for dogs.Would recommend for budget conscious comfortable accommodation

The lodge in the Vale was very clean and the staff including the gorgeous dog were very helpful and friendly, the fact they didn't have facilities to cook meals didn't bother us as they recommend the pub up the road where you get 10percent off your meal if you stay at the lodge!
We loved the continental breakfast and its only ten min drive to keswick!

We stayed in one of the cottages and it was beautiful. So clean and well maintained, just lovely. We arrived extremely late (00.10) but were greeted with a warm, friendly smile by Steve who was so attentive. After reading some negative reviews about this hotel I was really not expecting much at all. How wrong I was. My two children (age 4 & 8) and I stayed for 1 night. they looked after our requirements of the menu as my wife didn't want what was on the sweet menu, they said no problem. she asked what do you like and they made it happen. wow impressive
the chief was out standing in the presentation and taste of all the food we had.
we really recommend the food top class at reasonable price.

Very efficient and friendly staff, our stay was very comfortable with all the facilities we needed.
