I'd never stayed at The Athenaeum before but I will be back. Although I booked a standard double at a very deep discounted rate (typically this means getting the box room next to the staff quarters), I was given an apartment room which was really a suite. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, even though we arrived much later than anticipated. The room was very clean, comfortable and quite luxurious. The location of the hotel was fantastic for us. It was within walking distance of many great restaurants, shops and tourist attractions without it feeling too hectic. The transport links were also very good and only a 3 minute walk away. I cannot wait to stay at the Flemings Mayfair again.

We arrived at 9 am and were given a room at 10:30 am and the reception staff were trying to get the room ready ASAP and in the meantime we were asked to wait in the club lounge while the room was being prepared. Also the housekeeping staff were very good and always refilled the bathrooms with extra towels and toiletries whenever we asked for extra
