Nikko Pension L'escale - Fotos
Lo que la gente dice
Nikko Pension L'escale is indeed a bit out of the way from downtown (20mn walk uphill or $10 taxi ride), but it is a fantastic place and value. Fujita-San (Kaz) told us to call him from the train station and he drove down to pick up our luggage. Since we arrived in the morning, he dropped us off to the temples so that we could go visit all day. In other words, we actually got more time to visit Nikko thanks to his help. He offered to pick us up at the train station at the end of the day, but we. todo comentarios »
Pension L'Escale was wonderful! My husband and I took the train from
Tokyo for the holiday weekend and we brought our bicycles. We rode our
bikes from the Tobu-Nikko Station up to L'Escale, which was about a
mile. We arrived early Saturday morning and Fugita-san let us leave our
bags so we could go explore. Fugita-san was extremely helpful and gave
us maps, directions, filled our water bottles and gave us some salty
candies to take on our bikes. We then spent the weekend riding our bikes
all ov.
The pension is a bit like staying in a friend's home, basic but
charming, and the owner Kazu-san does everything he can to make it a
very pleasant experience. Based on other review comments, on arrival at
the railway station around 10am, we asked the info centre to call the
pension, and Kazu-san came immediately to collect our luggage and give
advice on getting to the temples, where to eat, and how to contact him
to be picked up at the end of the day. We stayed 2 nights and he
insisted on takin.
The owner must be the most helpful and nice person on earth. We hadn't thought to book dinner at the ryokan so when we arrived tired and hungry the kitchen was cold. Immediately the owner offered to take us back into town by car and also picked us up after dinner. And when we wanted to experience a typical Japanese onsen he arranged our visit to a friend's spa and, again, drove us there and picked us up afterwards, and the next day drove us to the station and helped with buying our tickets. We . I typically stay at boutique hotels but I could not find one within my budget so I booked a night stay at Pension L'escale.
I have forever been changed by this experience. The people are so kind and wonderful! Not only did the owner pick me up at the train station, he drove me to the onsen, picked me up, took me to a restaurant and picked me up after I was done.
To top it off, they presented me a plate of homemade cake and freshly brewed coffee and said, "make yourself at home."
I am.
We count Mr Katz as one of the nicest people you can possibly meet on a holiday. He was extremely helpful. He collected our bags on arrival and left us free to go sightseeing for the day and fetch us from the restaurant after dinner to the hotel. He even took the trouble to send us out again to the garden at Rinnoji temple to enjoy the sight of the garden with its autumn folliage beautifully lit in the evening. Thank you Mr. Katz. Wish we could have stayed longer.
The hospitality of the owner is great. Even though, the pension is quite
far away from the train station but that's not a problem at all
since the owner took care of us very well. Mr.Fujita picked up our
luggages at the station before we went to the world heritage area before
noon and then picked up us again in the evening to pension. We had
dinner at the pension and it was delicious. Don't miss their dessert
and the morning scone. Love this place.
The staff were friendly and helpful, and willing to go out of their way to drop us off to the sightseeing locations.
The food is definitely worth the money. Generous portion sizes and excellent cooking. Definitely get the meals when you're staying there!
Knowledge of the local sights was very helpful, and great advice for what sights were worth going to.
English was not an issue. Staff members spoke reasonable English.
the owner kaz treated us like gold. he is warm and personable and drove us to various locations in nikko and gave us advice and direction. A very hospitable place to stay.
Family run.
Friendly and helpful. Because it was out of town the owner was always willing to drop off and pick me up each day.
Meals were excellent.
Countryside all around.
The owner and his family are very nice. They recommended some places to visit and a place to eat and took us there and picked us up after, overall a very pleasant stay.
Top class personal service and excellent food.
The pension is a little way out of the town centre but they are very willing to provide a pick up/drop off service.
The host is very nice, gives information about Nikko and the shrines, and picks you up at the station when you call. He speaks english.
Kindness and availability of the owner who is offering to drive you to the railway station or to the temples.
The loveliest people you could come across. Very helpful, good english and very friendly.
Very friendly and genuinely caring staff.
The owner was very helpful and friendly!.
The only down side was having to ride our bikes up from the station with
heavy backpacks on our backs. The climb is quite steep getting up to
L'Escale, but the ride down on the bike was great!!!.
Distance from town, but more than made up for by Kazu-san's
willingness to pick up and deliver.
Don't expect high tech and luxury, in the "Western" rooms furniture may be a bit scuffed and the heating slightly eccentric but given the price and especially the overwhelmingly friendly welcome this shouldn't hold you back, except if you're really attached to a high degree of comfort. We didn't see the Japanese rooms which may be quite different.Absolutely NOTHING! .
A bit far, and we had to walk beside the road. We found no way to go through the forest and mountain.
The place was a little out of town but Nikko Pension L'escale made up for it by coming and picking me up from the train, taking me to the supermarket for food and coming and picking me up after a long day hiking. THey couldn't have been more accomidating!.
