Breakfast was reasonably priced and delicious, although service one morning was very slow. Swimming pool and gym area were fabulous.

Noise from the street even though I was on the 15th floor.

The rooms were clean and well attended. The bed was very comfortable, and despite the traffic noise I slept very well.

The traffic was very loud throughout my stay. Sirens were very apparent from my room. I understand there is a mandatory $15 service fee, but this should just be included in the price and not tacked on when you get there.

For a luxury hotel, I'd expected they'd provide a toothbrush free of charge because I left mine at home but they insisted on a $5 charge or suggested that I go to 7-eleven across the street. That's a real disappointment.

Very close to the Gaslamp quarter, this means many dining/drinking opportunities. Staff was super corteous, friendly and helpful. The room was very clean.

Our room was 6th floor, directly facing 2nd Ave. This means that every morning we woke up at about 5 am from the noise created by the trams below. Apparently the windows were not soundproof enough.

Location

No tub..... Had to make four different trips to the front desk because our key stopped working. Never did find the ice machine. You could hear the outside noise from the gadlamp district.

Loved our stay. We live only about 30 mins. north of San Diego and try to stay at the West Gate at least twice a year. It is like being on a vacation even though we are residents. Absolutely love staying downtown.

Helpful staff, opulent surroundings, large room, well-appointed bath, quiet, private, nice workout room

We prefer having a refrigerator at no extra charge, a suite and ideally, small kitchen. This hotel had too much of what we didn't need and too little of what we did. Valet parking inconvenient. Room was not turned down first night nor made up second day without request.

I don't know but I think this hotel is haunted! Don't ask me why but I really felt it was so.
