The position of the hotel on the bay, and our bay view room had excellent views which made for an interesting stay. Nice pool area, just big enough, and towels were provided which is a nice touch. A shuttle bus was available to take us to three different areas of the city and also regular trips to the airport. We were in a great area to take advantage of the various trips and cruises available.The hotel staff were extremely helpful and thanked us for our custom which makes you feel valued.

USS Midway museum is whithin 5 minutes walk distance, Seaport Villiage, 15 minutes of walk, other places of interests, e.g. Seaworld, Bolboa park and San Diego Zoo, are easy connected either by the free shuttle or the quick-'n'-easy public transportations. 2. staff nice and effective, very helpful on making sggestions to your trip plans. For us it was a great location, very close to the Amtrak Terminal but also a Bay view and in downtown so lots to do and see. Right in the middle of lots of toursit attractions. The airport shuttle was really helpful. We caiught the first at 5am for a 6.30 flight. The heated pool was bonus as we could swim althjough the weather was chilly. The location was perfect! We were across the street from the harbor. We could easily get to all the sites like Old Town, Gaslamp District, Zoo, Seaport Village and Sea World. The hotel offered a shuttle to the airport and some of the tourist attractions. The view from our balcony and the afternoon sun on it was pleasant. The locations was ideal for a visit to San Diego. It's literally within walking distance of the train system and within minutes of the airport. It is centrally located, and required very little driving. The hotel view was wonderful and well worth every penny spent. I really enjoyed by stay at the Wyndham San Diego. My husband and I love this hotel! The location is awesome. Workers are friendly. The hotel is a walk or short drive into the heart of downtown. We walked. The free shuttle to the zoo & airport was nice. And the drive to old town was short too! We're probably going to stay there everytime were in San Diego:). For me the best thing was the location. I only went to San Diego to see the USS Midway and the hotel could not have been nearer. I was also very pleased to find other places of interest also near by. The Wyndham is a first class hotel and I would recomend it to any body needing a good place to stay. Location was great. Central location to Downtown and 2 blocks from Metro Train Terminal. The gift shop was nice, had everything from water apparel to Iphone charger cord, plus drinks and snacks. Pool was fabulous. The Hotel was a Holiday Inn and Wyndham is renovating it and doing a great job. Customer Service . . . is the best!!!. Once you stop your car on the front and be greeting with such a warm welcome, the lady that was on the front desk was very professional and on the restaurant. I highly recommend to any family to stay at the Wyndham. Great hotel at great location. Embarcadero, Seaport Village, Horton Plaza, Gaslight Quarters are at walking distance. Seaworld and San Diego Zoo can be reached with a short car trip. Good place to visit the most beautiful city in California. We love Lizle she is the best and the most profesional front desk Lady we ever meet.....we like to travel ....we are going to comd back to the Wydham just because of her ....she welcome us so good and make us feel like home she is the best. Most of the staff were very nice, but the parking lot attendants seemed more inclined to help with directions and answer any questions I might have, being I was from out of town. Those guys were super just being friendly and helpful. I loved everything about our stay. The staff was friendly, the location was great, the free shuttle took us to thhe zoo, Sea port village and downtown. The harbor was beautiful. The cost of the hotel for 3 nights was a great bargin. Everything! Everyone was very friendly, rooms were comfortable, great place to get to everything and when you are tired of running around...plant yourself outside the pub and enjoy the view, the bay breeze and the people watching. I love that when I walked in I was welcomed right away an asked how can I help you? My maid was amazing even I I had my "do not disturb" she would call if I needed anything. I loved that the hotel pool was heated. The hotel is beautiful and the staff is friendly and helpful. Edward, the person at the Valet, is outstanding! From the moment we arrived he was helpful, professional and considerate. We had a great time!. Proximity to the port from which we were sailing on Celebrity Cruise. We only had to take our baggage across the street. Proximity to the town and trolley cars. Free shuttle service to the San Diego Zoo. The San diego bay view from my room balcony is amazing... I just spent most my stay in the balcony... I recommend to take the bay view room in the south tower or get another hotel. Location is perfect. Excellent location, great deal, walking distance to embarcadero, gaslamp, little Italy, seaport village- hotel is very modern and clean, the dowtown/airport noise is minimal considering the location. Location was great. Our goal here was to see the Maritime Museum and U.S.S. Midway which were within easy walking distance. The Gaslamp district isn't far but you would need a car to get there. The ease of check in and check out. Everyone was kind and helpful. Never encountered any problems. Place was clean and attractive and accessible to everything. Wonderful!. We had an issue with the TV and the response was immediate. We enjoyed our stay and liked the location. We will definitely stay there again when we return to San Diego. Very close for transportation options, cruse ship right across the street, amtrak and coaster a block away, and the trolley is there too! You don't need your car!!! !!!!. It was very convenient. The accommodations were fine; the staff was good, and there were nice touches which made the hotel comfortable. I loved the view of the bay. I love the location and its accessibility to the Bay and Seaport Village. The front desk staff accommodated our request to be near another guest we came came with. Situation perfect, across from Cruise terminal (shuttle bus available), Hop on Off Trolley, The Midway and 5 min walk to the trolley station that goes every where. Across the street from the cruise ship terminal. Had a available free shuttle from the airport and to the cruise ship terminal.Could walk to the checkin terminal. I was shocked to see Wyndam had bought Holiday Inn on the Bay. I have been going there for about 30 years. But service and people were as good as before. Thanks. Great location for the harbor and for Plane spotting. The Elephant & Castle pub was great, Darts, Pool, Beer, food pretty good. Nice size room. I liked that the Hotel was centralized to resturants and shopping. And also to Mission Beach and Beaumont Park. Everything was Walking Distance. location is really good. Beautiful view. The gift store in the hotel had everything we could want. The concierge on the day of Oct 21st was terrific. We'll be back on the Nov 3rd (Sunday) as a result of the manager on duty... Clean with a luxury appearance at an acceptable price, close to costal shopping, the beach and business. Also a very pet friendly. The staff was helpful. It was so easy to get around and having a free bus to the airport was fantastic. I loved the fact that everything was within walking distance or short car rides away. The hotel was great for the most part. Although there was a coffee maker and an ice bucket with free ice available, I expected to have a small refrigerator in the room which would have helped as we were booked just for room only. 1. air ventilator broken 2. staff in the souvenir shop being cold. The main niggle was the bathtoom door arrangment, a sliding door that did not remain closed and had no means of latching was disconcerting in that it prevented total privacy. No microwave or fridge in the room. The room was in need of an update. The interior decor needs updating. Also, the height of the balcony chairs is to low. I'm average height (5' 5"), and sitting in the chairs the view of the ocean was disrupted by the balcony rail cutting through the center of my view. I had to use the interior chair cushion and bed pillows in order to prop myself up to enjoy the view unobstructed. My companion also had to do this as his view was also disrupted and he is 5' 11". Had to get used to glass (frosty) sliding door that led to the bathroom. A normal/simple door or solid door could've been better. That way, you won't see the light/glow when someone is using the restroom. Nice pool area! A hot tub would've been nicer:) Lastly, self parking was high at $24 a night! $10/Night would be better. Other than that, we still love this hotel and will stay there again if we're ever in San Diego. We first we given a room in the old section which was not satisfactory. Room had old musty smell. We were immediately moved to the newer section which was much nicer. The fee for the parking garage, 24 dollars per day, is high. At the moment there is a lot of construction around the hotel and the train horns at to the noise. My wife and I wish there was a refrigerator in our room, we take insulin and like to keep it refrigerated. The veiw from my room. Wish there was a jacuzzi:-). One thing that I wasn't too impressed with is that I had to pay to park as a guest at the hotel. I would see if I wasn't a guest to park there but I was. We enjoyed our room with a view of the bay, however, we were above the restaurant and were overcome with the smells. No complaints. Smell like a hospital not a hotel when walk to my room. Rooms a little old Staff could be more attentive. Parking was an unexpected surprise. I had to thoroughly search the Wydham website to find out what parking was offered, and then I was unhappy to find out that it was over $20. They should be a bit more upfront with their guest parking. There is major construction next to the hotel which makes it pretty noisy during the week. The $24 per day for parking. Absolutely nothing. Would definitely come back again. If you park a car it's very expensive! There's a cheaper option across the street for $10 but you can't park overnight so if you use the hotel's it's $35 a night!!. I could tell the hotel was going through a transition - modernizing the interior - and I hope exterior will be next. Nothing!. Bathroom dated, but wyndham plans major renovations in 2014. -valet staff was pleasant but tried to make me feel bad for choosing to self park -on my second night, there was no hot water. It was not fixed until morning -sink was leaking a little bit -I wish hotels notified you before you arrive about cost to park car vs valet. Unfortunately we stayed there the weekend that included a holiday on Nov 11, plus there was a huge (35,000 people) conference on neuroscience happening at the the same time, consequently most centrally located hotels were fully booked allover and therefore the hotel was able to charge a higher than normal rate ($200 plus tax) - a little more than what we would normally pay. If we find next time, that we could get the same room at a cheaper rate then we would definitely stay there again. The room we stayed in had a bad rumble, which may have been the air conditioning. Bathroom sink is actually outside the bathroom. That I had to pay daily to park my car in the Garage that was adjacent to the Hotel. Fairly high price, given the city-view room we were given (see 'like' comments). Change of ownership to Wyndham meant we could not use our loyaly card. -The decors and room equipments (bathtub hot/cold water knobs fell off just with the lightest touch) look out dated. Some parts were looking aged but always clean. Would like microwaves and ice boxes in the rooms for leftovers!!. I wish there was a hot tub. But I don't really mind that much because there's so much to do down there!. Expensive parking $24/day vs. Free parking at other locations and pet's nightly charge of $25/day vs. $ 10-15 at other pet friendly locations. Nothing. Can't live there permanently - what a view. I have no complaints whatsoever. The hotel was having events which made parking (which you pay extra for) very difficult at times to the point of frustration, the internet was down for about the first 3 days.
