Location was fantastic if you love waking up to a beach view and you want to be right in the heart of Venice Beach. Matt gave us a fab welcome when we arrived and told us everything we needed to know for a short sightseeing visit to LA . Room was cosy with all necessary facilities and it was all very clean. We liked having the option to not have our room cleaned and towels changed everyday as we like to feel we are doing our bit for the planet, but you can also have this if you wish. The area is fun and vibrant and you have to be prepared for some homeless people hanging outside at night, but they were no bother to us and we saw them as part of the colourfulness of the area.

We liked the the location of course. That was expected. We appreciated Jasper's, the front desk person, attentiveness as we checked in. He took care of us. From that point on it was the beginning of a great stay. Our room was exactly as shown. We enjoyed it. Kind of reminded me of my first apartment in Manhattan, New York. Felt at home. Love waking up to brewing coffee! The restaurants we dined in were terrific. We're coming back!

This old-fashioned, but fully refurbished, hotel is in an unbeatable location, facing the beach on Ocean Drive. The rooms were modern, spacious, spotless and include a kitchenette. Get to ride on Betsy, the 100 year old Otis elevator still functioning!

There is no aircon. Only fans on the ceiling.

The staff at the hotel were extremely accommodating. They were very helpful in assisting us with finding places to eat and recommending different activities as well as explaining the Venice beach area. The room was clean and spacious, and looked just like the pictures. They also had boards, chairs, and other ocean toys for us to use. We were definitely not dissapointed, I would absolutely recommend.

Venice Beach is one of my favorite places. I loved the brick walls with the unique "beachy" look, and the décor was fun... very Venice Beach!

Our bathroom window looked into the neighbor building- so we just kept the blind shut.

The location, and the staff were very helpful. It was close to the beach and cafe/restaurants as well as market stalls.

That it didn't have air con. But that would increase the price. So value for money was appropriate.

it has such a vintage feel. The elevator is over 100 years old, and is amazing! The rooms all have brick walls, and the view was amazing. Location was right on the boardwalk. I loved this hotel.

Location was amazing, and staffs were really helpful especially information for public transports. The room we stayed was reasonable size. Our flight was 10pm so they offered us to leave bags and use rest room before flight that was really great service.

We arrived the hotel after closing office hour and we didn't know the office closes after 9pm. I was really scared because of homeless people around the hotel even I have read reviews from people who stayed there in past. it takes for couple of days to know these home less people don't hurt you and around hotel is pretty safe even the mid night.

Just stayed one night, our last in Cali. The suite was immaculate. Nice sized room with double bed, hardwoodish floors, small kitchen table, kitchenette and shower/bathroom. Check in was easy. We were on the third floor, so left the big suitcases in the car and just packed quick overnight bags to take in. It is just feet from the sandy beaches at Venice.

Parking is a real challenge in this neighborhood. We lucked out and found some on-street parking, otherwise it's $15 for an overnight parking lot three blocks away. I was surprised at the number of homeless people in Venice Beach, and it was unnerving to be stepping around them as they slept on the sidewalk at night. Venice is a hip town, though, some great bars/restaurants and excellent people watching.

"Classic Venice" ... this place captures the essence of "Beachside-boardwalk". The staff and owner were incredibly helpful and interesting. And this older style hotel has style... loads of it. If you're seeking chrome and glass, look elsewhere, but if you're staying in Venice because you like the town, then you'll love this hotel.

OMG....I would like to start out by saying this hotel was amazing and the staff from the day I got there till the morning I left were friendly and inviting. They treated us with so much passion. Lastly, the hotel is awesome the elevator was way cool. I couldn't help but to take a video while I proceed down the elevator. And the room was the icing on the cake. It was like paradise packed inside of a little studio. I will definitely be back next year. You guys were awesome. Thanks.....The Dailey Family

Absolutely everything!!! I have never had such a pleasurable experience at a hotel & I stay at alot of hotels!!! Jun in the office was totally awesome!! I am dying to go back & this time I am getting an ocean front room & staying for as long as possible!!!

The only issue I had was checking in took a bit longer than I like however, I was able to leave my bags in the safe keeping of the office & go out on the boardwalk & play!!! The only thing that I would like to see change would be for them to open up the roof for a rooftop sun deck, but that's about it... :)

Excellent location for enjoying the beach (not sightseeing or shopping). Very friendly and helpful staff. Wifi and kitchen.

Reception is not 24 hours. Price / value is not good- it is a fairly simple hotel(expected more for this money). The area around the hotel is dangerous in the evenings: you have to stay inside after 9-10pm.

I liked the location right on the beach which made it easy to run or walk along the boardwalk. I liked having a bathroom, WiFi and good TV. The staff in reception were pleasant and helpful.

The hotel is rather old and a bit tired. This part of Venice Beach is a bit sleazy with some people sleeping on the beach. However that did not cause me any problems and it is interesting.

Loved beach front atmosphere, centrally located on the famous venice boardwalk. Staff was very kind and helpful.

Was checked in to a room that had sand grit all over the floor, No AC option in room, If you get the room on 1st floor in the back portion of hotel you hear homeless people digging through dumpsters and talking to themselves all night. No real way to darken room if you want to sleep in its very hard. Be careful late at night around Venice. Housekeeping did not come on the second day of our stay, not even to replenish towels etc.

The staff is so nice and helpful. The location is perfect is you want to go to the beach in Venice...

If you don't know what is Venice you will run away with scare!!! The problem is not the hotel is the area around. If you arrive at nigh like us you'll think 100000 times if you will stay there. But after you'll realize that the people are friendly! The room is ok but it smells so bad that I spent all my perfume in the room!!!
