marina del rey is perfectly located. my room had a beautiful view on to the harbour. the all staff were lovely and helpful. this hotel is a real gem. ok so it needs a refurb, and there is a bit of noise from the other floors but this is more than made up for with the plus points of which there are many. room service was excellent, the cafe staff were also really helpful and nice. all the services you would expect from a 4 or 5 star hotel but a fraction of the price. the hotel is about to refur.
all reviews » We wanted a hotel close to the Getty Museums and Santa Monica. We were nervous about the people density of L.A. and, being walkers, had heard poor reports of the lack of pedestrian-friendly paths and even sidewalks. The hotel location was perfect. It was not only literally surrounded by boats but was right by the coast bike path and close to a number of interesting walks around the largest man-made marina in the world. Coupled with a very friendly staff, very close to Santa Monica and the tida. Marina view (vs. Peninsula), large picture window-opens to unbelievable view, cool breezes), awesome Restaraunt on site for hot breakfast- ambience perfect out on the patio-again view, quiet-noise away from city. Didnt get a room with balcony but either way lovely! Friendly staff, best location in the marina, easy to find. Free parking. I like the way we were treated after an unpleasant room situation. We were moved to what I would consider the Honeymoon Suite that hat a beautiful view of the Marina with a blacony, a jacuzzi for 2, a bidet and a standing shower with to sets of showerheads - a very luxurious room in the quietest spot of the hotel. It was lovely. I love the old-school style, with spacious rooms, incredible views, and access to the waterfront. Haha, I loved the crazy gold shower heads every-which- way, and that they shape the towels into swans! Parking easy and free, internet fee...Pool area at the waterfront- all great. Great location. Rather large and clean rooms. Beautiful views on marina (if you've got a sea-view room). Really huge parking lot (and it's free). This hotel definitely worths its cost. Location was fantastic, really close to the Venice Beach and Santa Monica and right on the Marina. Everything we need was close by. Staff were ffriendly and always willing to help. Nice staff, beautiful views, relaxing atmosphere, close to airport, good location for business and pleasure, close to sveral nice restaurants. Would definately stay there again. Great Staff. You are surrounding with sailboats so that's really nice adn I think that you can always get a view of it (except on first floor).Quiet, safe. - bed and pillows very comfortable - centrally located in safe area - plenty of parking - would recomend this hotel but not Los Angeles. The bad news is that the hotel badly needs modernization. The good news is that it is planned to occur very soon. (Exact construction date unknown at the time of our stay). Nothing- they even have bike rentals and Incredible bike pathway for miles along beach north or south. Close to Venice canals-a must find and see!. The hotel is older with creaky floors and due to an upcoming renovation of the hotel, I think they let some maintenance issues in the bathrooms slide. They ran out of their wine selections in their bar and restaurant due to a wedding that was held ther on the weekend and had notreplenished their stock. They clearly need the renovation and I'm s ure once it's finished it will be beautiful. It's maybe a bit dated- but don't change! There are too few of you left... This hotel is like being at a yacht club in 1967. Towels folded into swans, big King bed- I didn't DIDN't like that. That's a double negative- I love those extras at the Marina del Rey Hotel. What don't I like? That other people will book my fave King room! Back off!. In general, the hotel looks a little worn out. No safe deposit boxes inside rooms (only at reception). Lunches/dinners a la carte are not that good. I can't say anything bad about our stay here. Nothing. The hotel gets old, you definitely need a car to get somewhere (but it's the case everywhere in L.A) and the walls are thin so I think it can get really noisy during peak periods. - free internet was non-existent unless in lobby - heated pool not very warm. Other than the worst Wi-fi network I've ever experienced nothing. Neither my wife and I were disappointed with anything. Nothing. Just you hear to everybody. In the morning when somebody wake up...you know in a while. I wish the bar had been open a little later on a Saturday night. the floor of the walkways and terraces were very squeeky and ricketty. was concerned tey might give way. Hotel a bit dated but understand they are due an upgrade - please keep the staff when you re-open!. Not necessarily the hotel's fault but needed a car in LA which we didn't realise do we were limited in what we could do while staying here. Needs renovation in some areas, but still a good value. The beds were a bit hard and the shower head wasn't very good. no significant dislikes. dogs in lobby. nothing. a little old. Front desk did not know how to program w/u call. Called in maintenance problem and was informed that someone would be right up. Didn't happen. At check out they had no record of the report. On the first night the electricity went out from 6pm-9pm,not A good thing very unhappy. none. For the money, we felt ripped off. The pictures on the Internet were misleading. It was obvious that no maintenance had been done on this hotel in years. The beds were lumpy, the shower was for a short person & leaked all night, the sliding glass door had a chincey lock on it and the view was obstructed by trees. The paint was falling off the walls and the carpet was long overdue for replacement. We would not recommend this hotel to anyone who likes to be comfortable. The hotel is old and needs to be updated. Old carpets, old furniture, tube TV, the restaurant needs a new terrace, with better views on the marina, now a bit blocked and dated furninture. Sound insulation in the hotel is poor, as is its airconditioning system. Rooms very noisy had to be moved twice wi fi very bad could never connect. Kettle in room didn't work took two days to replace. the walls were thin. I could hear the people upstairs tromping around at all hours. the carpet and decor need to be updated. bad services: wifi even if available never works!!!!!! hotel very old bad conditions of the hotel. Needs renovation. old hard mattress out dated, no pay for view movies greatly in need of up dating dirty curtains, mold in shower. No door to bathroom and no protection from light for sleeping guests when someone is using bathroom. Tile in bathroom is old and unattractive. Toilet seat is round and uncomfortable....tiny don't know how big people can fit. Dated, needing a lot of repair, smelled smoking in my room. A bit messy You're paying for location, other than that, the walls are thin and the furniture is dated. Sliding door did not lock toilet to low for disabled person, no refrigerator, horrible pillows, place needs up dating. Extremely slow and unreliable internet connection makes it very hard for business travellers. The walls between rooms are thin like a paper you can hear when someone is breathing in another room. Rooms extremely outdated for the price. Unfriendly employees. Run down smelled and had no Internet service -was moved into another room and still did not have Internet. Hotel needs a complete makeover. I am sorry to say that, but this is a fact. Everything was really bad. The hotel was old, dirty and smelly. They were lie because there wasn't an internet.
