we had a fabulous stay at the hotel erwin. we were there for our wedding anniversary and the staff went out of their way to ensure we had a great stay. the rooms are large and the location could not have been better.
view was looking out onto a parking lot. other than that we loved it.

letsbookhotel.com reservation showed up as $270/night for Saturday night, was billed for $340/night, plus various taxes, and ended up being $427 when everything was said and done.

Erwin is a great place to stay. l should have stayed there for the entire week I was in Los Angeles but Venice is far from the area I needed to be in daily. ln retrospect it would have been the place to stay, well worth the commute.

The location! I'm kidding. Obviously you don't stay in Venice beach and then complain about the characters. Though I did not like the ten dollar cappuccino in the bar. That was just wrong.
The staff and food in Barlo were amazing and the sunset from the roof was beautiful.
The only thing that let the hotel down was the fact that the public could access the rooftop lounge, not a problem in itself, but they also had had access to the rest of the hotel corridors. Would've been better if you needed to use your room access card to request the lift to stop at all the floors other than the rooftop.

The restaurant, while serving excellent food (and drinks) was ridiculously slow in serving breakfast. Also after verifying our order verbally 3 times, I finally told the waiter to please write it down - he did - and we still got food we didn't order. All-in-all, definately would stay there again, and definately would eat there again

I liked that we were not far from the beach. That there were plenty of bars & restaurants close by. That it was a very vibrant area, That the hop on hop off bus stopped virtually outside the hotel. That the hotel had a bar & restaurant. That they had valet parking at the hotel.
The noise from people coming down the stairs. The wall that the bed was on vibrating as people came downstairs . That when I asked about the hop on hop off buses nobody told me they stopped virtually outside but would get me tickets for it ( at inflated prices no doubt). Food & drink was Quite expensive. The parking was expensive.
Remodel was fantastic/ new cafe/ restaurants and roof top bar food was great!!! Room service was wonderful, beds comfy...only the street sounds were a bit loud...be prepared to party hardy in Venice!! Or bring ear plugs.
Venice Beach was very crowded and not as fun to be there...neighborhood is kinda shabby ...
The location of the hotel is excellent. Clean rooms. The staff is friendly and helpful. Though breakfast is not included in the room rate the restaurant downstairs whips up some delicious breakfast choices.

Rooftop terrace is awesome - but make a reservation if you want to have a lounge chair. Location is only steps from Venice Beach/Muscle Beach. Young guests around but still fairly quiet at night (good isolation?); small restaurant within hotel serves good breakfast and dinners
Be prepared to pay 35 $ per night parking fee. Parking next to hotel is not that much less expensive - better use the valet parking

The kitchen at the Erwin is outstanding. The room design is lovely. I would only recommend the location if you love the gritty hippy vibe of Venice Beach. The area is shabby.

Loved this hotel. Great location, a stone throw from Venice beach & muscle beach, but still lovely & quiet. Really quirky design throughout the hotel. We stayed on the top floor which I think were new rooms. Absolutely lovely. Rooftop bar is a must at sunset and the menu mainly for snacks is really tasty. Would definitely stay here again.

Shady characters all around, toilet didn't work, staff seemed unmotivated and money hungry, overpriced!! More people were in the hotel for the club on the roof than occupants.
