We stayed in the cottages and it was wonderful. There was a small kitchenette that was fully furnished and a coffee pot which is very important to me. The patio outside our room had a beautiful view of the lake and we enjoyed feeding the fish and watching the turtle and small gator. I already plan to stay there again but this time it will be for a much longer stay. Be sure to visit the Edison/Ford estates while you are there.
all reviews » We loved the peaceful, relaxing mornings & evenings we spent on the porch looking over the pond watching the turtles, the baby gator and listening to the ceramic dolphins shooting water. We stayed in the individual cottages, even though it is an older place, it's very nostalgic and the inside was updated and comfortable. There was a small nature trail that was neat and they offered free canoeing. Close to downtown. I came to visit family in Ft Myers & I had them over to my cottage for brunch. We sat on the lanai & watched the kids thrill to the lake & pool, we could watch them as they explored. I met folks from Canada & boat-show couples. What a delightful place, so clean and friendly!! The manager couldn't do enough to please. She obviously loves her work!. This hotel was great value for the money, cabin surrounding the pond was very unique, we had for use of canoes for the canal and a nice little nature trail, all of this pretty much in the heart of the city. Staff was very friendly bedrooms are very clean and bright. We would certainly stay here again. I don't have much to complain about...the hotel was very nice and will be returning but next time, going to stay at Lakeside as I couldn;t with the kids this time. Very clean rooms, no bugs and very friendly staff! Nice area near the beach and a very fair rate! I would recommend this place to anyone!. Rock Lake Resort was a wonderful find. The surroundings were well maintained and charming. Free trolley service between resort and downtown river district was a plus. Rooms are comfortable and clean, not spotless but above many places that charge much more per night. Old 1940's style cottages but with a recent update. Kitchen Facilities. Lake outside the room had plenty of fish, turtles and a baby gator (which I presume they remove once it starts to grow) that kept me entertained all morning. TV had plenty of channels. I loved the little cottages. It was a throw back from the 1940's but updated. It was clean, we felt like we were in our own little oasis, but we were walking distance to downtown Ft. Meyers with the shopping and restaurants. I would go again in a minute. My wife and I love the cottage set up and the fact that they are a pet friendly facility. We enjoyed the scenery and the bike ride to downtown. Rock lake is in a great location close to down town 30 min to ft myers Beach or to Sanibal Ilsland one room very nice decor and all units hhave a padio over looking the lake We would definataly stay ther again. The cabins were quaint and it was peaceful. I liked the patio off of the lake. The cabin was just like it looked on line. The price was reasonable. It had a little kitchenette with dishes and pans. We stayed in the cottages, and you open the doors and walk out to view the lake and the water is clear you can see the fish and turtles come up to you. Just a wonderful stay. We will return. Close to a wedding that was held at the art center downtown. Dolphin fountains are relaxing. Was able to chill, drink some beers and burn one one the porch without worry. Great setting...a slice of old Florida amid a wasteland of overpriced chain hotels. Made it possible to stay "in the city" but feel like you were in a nature retreat. We stayed in one of their cabins on the lake. Very clean room. Very nice patio overlooking the lake that we had our morning coffee. Clean pool. A quit place in a busy city. Just 15 minutes away from frt. meyers downtown. Good place to stay with high comfort standard. Privacy, excellent grounds-keeping & foliage, cabin format, vintage, historic feel, wonderful lake & wildlife. Nice condo close to Fort Myers city (only 20 minutes by foot). Very nice around a small lake (including turtles). Accessibility to downtown and beaches. Location. I felt like family. Clean. I would return in the future. Staff was very quick to get anything you asked them for and were eager to make your stay a perfect one. We stayed in the cottages which are very charming. Staff were excellent - very sensitive to our needs. The quietness and the option of having a cottage instead of a hotel room. The cottage was the best. The price was good,and the helpfulness of staff and well equipped accommodation. The nature around, there is a trolley which goes to the city and is free. Great "old Florida" feel. Very nice surroundings and close to downtown. The stay was very quite and relaxing. The night view was incredible!. We love the Villas and all of the Employees are just wonderful.... We visited on a 'passing-through' basis, so just for 1 night. For that is was perfect! The cottages are very nice, but with 'cold' tiles on the floor. It had everything you need and it was clean. The pond of water with the cottages surrounding them is very cute, and you can sit outside on the porch and have a cup of coffee or smth. I would recommend taking a cottage over a room for sure!!! Value for money is incredible here! So how much could you expect then... Enjoyed sitting on the terrace and watching the fish & turtles. Pleasant outlook. Room was clean & comfortable. Good value for money. i thought it quaint wish i had better weather. The price. The bathroom . clean,nice,good price. location near ball park, had 3 rooms and able to get there in few minutes. Located right by downtown. The old, small outdated TV. The pool furniture is tired (torn or without cushions. The mesh works well as there are no cushions to stain & is comfortable without padding unlike the hard plastic chaises. You really just need 4 chaises & chairs as there are not many people at the pool at once. I have nothing to complain about, except I wish I could have stayed longer!. Nothing, we will return. We took a bit of a punt in choosing Fort Myers as a place to stay. Rock Lake Resort is 5 mins drive out of the centre but we didn't venture in. If I am in the area again I would probably stay on Fort Myers Beach area which is about 20 miles away and where we spent our days. We had no complaints at all. There was a missing chair on the Patio that hadent been replaced But it was the weekend other wise there was no other problems. Although we had maid service every day, the floor was dirty. Other than that, everything was good. Nothing. Location was so-so...the neighborhood around has deteriorated somewhat since the cottages were built in the 1940's, but the property is well kept and close to a revitalized downtown scene. Located on a one way street. when you return back to hotel from Ft. Myers you have to go east of the Resort and come back west to get to Resort. No smoking rooms should not have ashtrays on the porch. Little bit far from Fort Myers beach. Not a big deal, but this resort uses a rather laid back approach to check in. We were not aware of process, but signage directed us to call upon arrival and staff immediately answered phone and gave us details about our key, etc. This is probably necessary with a resort on two sides of the street and a smaller staff. Crossing the street to the main office. Problems with the hot water it took 30-40 minutes to come through. Everything was o.k. Had to wait -- but not long -- for staff to respond to call (no one at office). None , it was ok !. Limited office hours. Everything was satisfactory. On the outskirts of bad neighborhood. Slow to get hot water, but once it's there it's steady. Considdering the value for money aspect, there are no complaints. We didn't like the tiles in the cottage, but like I said; it offers a lot for little! Take the cottage though!. Didn't enjoy the traffic noise from the nearby road. Could have done with a corkscrew & sieve/colander in the kitchen & use of a hairdryer. Had to wait a long time for hot water to come through. Seems such a waste. i found the floors to be very dirty my husband and i had to throw away our socks. Cigarette ends and rubbish outside both rooms. Noise from road because we were virtually on the road side all other rooms were away from road. Not able to make a drink of coffee, no facilities. difficult to arrive. Rooms were dreary, furniture old, sliding door in one room came off hinges and leg of dresser fell off. Also, no glasses in another room. Rooms do not appear fresh and clean. outdated tv, no privacy on patio, no ventilation for cooking smoke alarm goes off every time, no housekeeping on sundays had to chase fresh towels down and dogs swimming in the pool. Very noisy because of some clients who organized a big party. We've just felt unsecured the first night as we were surrounded by drunk people and nobody to calm them down! BTW, there was nobody at the reception from 5pm to 10am. To far from main beaches.
