This is a fairly new and beautifully appointed hotel. We stayed in an Executive Suite which was a lovely room. The room was spotless, the bed wonderfully comfortable and great corner settee to lounge on. The hotel is opposite the grounds of Blenheim Palace. It is situated on a main road, there was no problem with road noise. There is a train station 5 minutes walk away, you can jump on a train to Oxford, only a 9 minute journey away and have no worries about parking. Really convenient. B.
all reviews » The Courtyard Woodstock Hotel is a new building just 3 minutes from the train station that has a 10 minute train ride to Oxford and Cotswold villages.There are also good bus connections to Woodstock Blenheim Palace and other Cotswold villages. Easy to get to public footpaths for country walks. The staff in the onsight cafe is very pleasant and friendly. Staff, food and ambience were excellent. It was convenient for our needs. The room was larger than average, modern and gave the impression of that little bit more space to move around in and 'put things'. I must stress that the particularly friendly and helpful staff made up for any of the negative issues mentioned. The main aim of my visit to the area was to visit Blenheim Palace and Park. I did so on two consecutive days. The hotel is an ideal location. Staff are friendly and professional. My single room was larger than many single rooms and very comfortable. Breakfast was freshly cooked and served without undue delay. This hotel is nice and new, well decorated and comfy. The Owner was friendly and made you feel welcome. The breakfast was freshly prepared (Not Buffet) and was made with excellent quality ingredients, some hotels fob you off with cheap bacon and limp sausages, not here. Clean,modern, functional with quality furniture,shower and bed!Excellent walk in power shower. Wifi and tv with lots of channels etc. Very helpful and friendly check in girl. Good to have cafe onsite. Loved the chicken wings and salad. I traveled in the region for professional reasons. It is located near a business park. The facilities are modern and clean. The room which I stayed in was spacious enough and the staff was really friendly and helpful. The hotel is bright and modern. The young staff are both professional and friendly. Prices maybe a little pricey, but I think this is generally the case in the Oxford area. You need transport for evening meals, as there is nothing in the immediate vicinity. Unfortunately I struggled with the pillows as 1 was too low and 2 were too high. It wasn't a major problem but I would have liked a bath. I appreciate that it was inevitable that the views were of a business park which detracted just a little. No air conditioning in room. Single room very small...no pictures or colour . It was like staying in an upmarket cell. The price was to high for the room size . No where to sit at all. Hanging rail situated above the kettle and hospitality tray really dumb! Full English breakfast a joke ..no tomato,mushrooms or has browns. Only scrambled microwaved eggs on offer. Clothes put up on the open rail tend to hang down onto the kettle and tea making shelf. This is only a minor point. Room and bathroom were small, no air conditioning. Nothing. I will be back. The bedroom roadside is noisy. There is nothing really, limited check in time but have measures in place to cope and main door entrance code after 7pm was unusual but worked fine. Breakfast could be made available earlier. Check out time could also be brought a little earlier. Bit soulless No lounge area Next to light industrial estate Plastic shower flooring Inclusive breakfast in rate was 1 egg 1 bacon 1 sausage which you only know once delivered to table. No reception/concierge service, still needs development. Only a small gripe - Had salmon & cream cheese bagels for breakfast which were almost burnt and impossible to cut with a knife and fork!. Nothing!. More egg options at breakfast. Bed was OK but pillows not so good. This is not church hanborough but long handborough. Room had a lot of cobwebs on the ceiling and walls. Quilt was much too heavy for summer and no top sheets available. Room 11 a bit on the small side, we wouldn't want an extended stay in it. On arrival room uncomfortably warm and would have benefitted from open windows, drawn blinds prior to arrival. Smoked salmon features prominently on breakfast menu but had run out all 3 mornings we were there. We reported safe locked on Friday but it wasn't opened until Sunday. Bad lighting in bathroom mirror. Felt more like a rented apartment than a hotel. Almost no staff no welcome. Slow breakfast service as not enough staff. Thin loo paper. No socket near a mirror- odd for a new hotel. I was very disapointed with english breakfast .I was expecting choices, but was told I couldn!t have pouched egg only scrambled, but after asking after breakfast was finished wa told I could have boiled if you can boil a egg you can pouched a egg with english breakfast I thought you have mushrooms with it,but no only dried up bacon and scrambled egg.. During the night we were killing black flies in the room before we could go to sleep. Far away from community, No light at outside after mid night. the unmanned hotel at various times, the distance from Woodstock, the location beside a furniture removalist, the absence of a restaurant in the evenings, the absence of any hotel atmosphere, the fact that the online photos suggested a larger hotel set in the countryside rather than in an industrial estate. the hotel is not at Woodstock. industrial estate outside the window no admin on site.
