We found the hotel excellent the staff could not do more than they didand we have decided that we will return there again in november and wewill always stay there whenever we are in peterborough. We wouldrecommend the hotel to everyone. There was a special promo on the new resta\urant and was extremly good quality food. The rooms in the new bit were very modern. Most of all the Staff were very polite and really helpful.
all reviews » This is our 2nd stay at the hotel in 2 months and again could not fault the staff or the hotel excellent and will return again next year. Tara the receptionist/bar person was a real 'people person' who added pleasure to the stay. The hotel should be proud of her.Everything about our stay was 1st class. Some rooms awaiting renovation were a little tired but were still presented in an excellent manner. 1. My room overlooked the main road and there was traffic noise from early morning. However, I understand that many of the other rooms have double glazing; 2. The name Queensgate Hotel suggests it is centrally located near Queensgate. In fact, it is quite a long walk from the centre. lack of signs to the rooms, no info in the room, i thought they had a pool, but could find no mention of one.Staffing seemed a bit haphazard - had to find somebody to book oursleves and another guest in. Same with breakfast - waited ten minutes before I again went to find someone to take our order!. carton of sour milk in fridge from previous guest. The Dinner service was the slowest I have ever experienced, there was one other diner when we sat down we waited an half an hour for our order to be taken, and then a further 30 minutes for our first course to arrive. No valid explanation or apology was given when we complained except to say our food was next up, not suprising really as there was no one else waiting for food !. I know I only paid for the lowest rate, but I was put on the side of thehotel that had not been refurbished. So you pay for what you get as theysay.Cannot fault this hotel would always recomend.The evening meal menu was very limited. The description was rather over enthusiastic. The room was pretty basic.The room was a little cold. Bit disappointed we didn't get to stay in the much trumpeted newextension even though there were few residents staying. However, theroom allocated was comfortable and well equipped if a little tired.didnt see any lifts therefore unsuitable for elderly and or disabled. the bar needs improving. As the queensgate is rated a Hotel there should be a 24hr reception, this was not the case. When I needed to speak with reception at 06:00 no one was there until 06:50 and even then it was the Breakfast Chief who then went and got someone. there was no bell or anything to attract attention, I even had to let the lady in that delivers the papers. I still enjoyed my stay very much, thank you all. Management not very sharp i was shown into a room which was not cleaned since the last guest but this was immediately rectified. TV was aweful and the Wifi did not work. There was no power plug in a bathroom. Quite close to noisy road. Dated and tired room. When booking should make it clear whether staying in the upgraded part of the hotel or not.A little dated...but undergoing extensive refurbishment/extending. Room was very 'tired'. The fire Alarm going off at 4 oclock in the morrning.
