We only stayed the one night and it was literally just a bed for the night, however, everything was spot on. The shower is fantastic!. the room was very well furbished - if anything the description "underates" this hotel. Close to the main railway station.Good room rate with a discounted breakfast.Also close to some excellent pubs.Thought the restaurant was superb, both food and service. we would stay here again. The speed and efficiancy. I requested a smoking room. I was telephoned the same day as I made my booking to be informed the smoking rooms were full, did I wish to proceed with my booking. On arrival I was informed of a cancellation and offered a smoking room at no extra cost.The hotel is very convenient for the station and town centre. When the staff knew we weren't dining at the hotel they didn't mind recommending other restaurants nearby. I like the option of breakfast in your room. During my stay at the Bull Hotel I liked the central location and ease of access to shopping, taxis and train station.city centre location and on site parking. We were pleased with our de luxe room. We called the desk to ask for an ironing board. We had to 'phone twice more before my husband had to go to reception and ask again. It drives me mad to have so many pillows and cushions on the bed!. We found being on the 3rd floor very exhausting and would wish to book a groundfloor room or 1st floor in future. we were on main street and it was a bit noisy after midnight. TV was a bit on the small side. Not particularly easy to find car-park. Another guest has commented onyour website about a noise during the night and when I awoke about3.30am I could also hear it. In the morning there was no noise. AlthoughI've marked 2 'Comfort of your Room' as good, I think the decorationespecially carpets and net curtain need replacing and the towels weregetting near to the end of their life.We would have liked to be able to get a sandwhich or snack at night when we got back to the hotel. Breakfast too expensive and not that great. Really expensive wine. Do not mind a mark up, but 300% is a bit much. Did not get robes in the executive room i was in, even though it said there would be!. The bed was small (not use to standard doubles) and pillows were quite hard.Room was smaller than out of town Hotels but that is to be expected. The rooms without air conditioning were uncomfortably hot. Difficult to find and park. Hotel was full of loud football fans. The first room I was checked into didn't have a bed so I was upgraded to a better room. At checkout (8am) there were 8 guests queuing and only one receptionist.Early closing of restaurant in evening particularly when room service was not available either after 9.45 pm. Dated bedroom decor. Single beds.I did not like the cramped room with dated decor. The new tv was good but there was too much furniture for the room. The bathroom needed an upgrade too. Daily soup a bit steep at £5 in the bar.As with most hotels the rooms and poublic areas are too hot. Car parking was also very difficult to find for this hotel. Room and corridors were boiling - had to leave a window open one night of my stay, but this let in loads of noise from drunkards and the taxi rank outside. There was nothing to stop anyone from wandering in from the street right up to the door of our room 24/7(!) Staff also gave me the wrong room key, and when it came to checking out £20 had been added to my bill but this was put right.outdated room. There was a noise like a spin dryer on fast cycle all night.Not a BandB rate. 1. The internet did not work 2. Refusing to allow food and drink to be charged to my room upon production of the room key and demanding cash was ridiculous! 3. £13 for breakfast! For toast, tea and cereal? Are you crazy? 4. Mould on the ceiling and walls of the bedroom.Failure to provide 2nd set of towels despite clear booking for 2 peopleand 2 requests to reception to provide additional set. No apology ordiscount forthcoming from reception staff. I eat in the hotel bar on the Sunday night, ordering steak pie - what Igot was a large soup bowl with a few pieces of meat but a lot of choppedup carrots an celery in a very fatty (barely) warm gravy and a verysmall piece of puff pastry floating on the top. When I dais I hadordered a steak and ale pie I was told that this was the way the hotelserved it and no offer was made to change it.
