This is the best hotel we have ever stayed, indeed! I warmly recommend it for anyone! One can feel that the owners put their heart into it and sincerely do their best to make a very comfortable and pleasant stay for their guests.They are personally very nice people and have helped us a lot with our questions, finding proper bus connections and so on. all reviews » I liked everything about this Hotel- absolutely excellent. Extremely comfortable bed with top grade linen. Beautiful grounds with lovely swimming pool. Dinner and breakfast were delicious. Overall the staff couldn't do enough for us- the afternoon tea on arrival was a pleasurable bonus, and the receptionist was a lovely lady who made us feel so welcome. I will definitely return if I am down that way again. Due to house renovations we have spent a month travelling around various hotels around the country and we would say that Fernhill is in the top three that we have stayed in. Which is great considering we have paid up to £250 per night right down to £125. in brief a very relaxed comfortable stay, facilities, food and staff excellent. Nothing really. Think the exterior could do with a repaint but it didn't put us off. En suite - washbasin far too small. Bedroom wardrobe old and rather decrepit. Doors would not stay shut. A la carte meal (duck) not satisfactory. Approx 60-70% bone. Room 2 floors up -no lift. No handrail on one short flight of stairs. parking was a bit iffy, could do with clear signs/markings. Small room and bathroom. Bed a bit soft. Nothing springs to mind. Relative remoteness from holiday locations necessitating use of car or public transport. there was nothing not to like. Nothing!. slightly expensive for out of season at that location. The most expensive around there. No lift so not ideal for those with poor mobility. Nothing to complain about. Nothing. The room was extreamly cramped and the bathroom was no larger than a phone booth. Anyone on the large side or infirm would find great difficulty using it. kettle was glued together so no cup of tea for my wife she had to go with out for the whole night !. Overall I felt the hotel was dated compared to the expectations the website hadnt given me. This was more of a B&B than a hotel therefore the rates seemed over priced. Expectations of the breakfast were high but the bacon and the poached eggs were seriously over cooked. The bacon was like leather. Shame as everything else was OK. The Price was far too high for the room and its location and view. No discount offered for a 4 night stay, not vey commercially savvy. Our twin room (9) was right at the top of the house via a conveluted set of stairways and doors, it was very small and had a poor view over the back of the hotel, where you could see old car tires and cheffs smoking! The staff were polite, welcoming and helpful.
