Hotel was nice and clean, both public areas and the room. Room more spacious than most. Good leisure facilities. Enjoyable meals. Lovely hotel with atmosphere and character. Children loved the pool and the outlook of our room was restful. Impressed with Barcelo chain and took brochure for further stays with the company.Very comfortable beds. The bed was very big and comfortable and the food was excellent. The 2 night deal was very good value for money and the spa and beauty facilities were lovely.it was a very nice peaceful stay and we will be going back.

Tv in rooms and in hotel in general was poor. Hotel used for sporting events should give better facilities to watch other sports events.More staff at busy times in the restaurant. bedroom door hinges squeaked. It was a pity that the grounds were not made more of a feature. The pond could have been so much better with flowers and shrubs surrounding it and lights to enhance the view of it in the evenings.A pathway through the grounds would have been appreciated by walkers not wishing to get wet feet. would have been most useful if the rooms had a mini fridge to store bottles etc for families travelling with young children. Minor problem with the temperature in the hotel - it was rather warm but it was a rare sunny weekend. Bathroom a bit dated. They had serious trouble with taking room service orders. 1st room given for 1st night very poor, bed really uncomfortable were moved for 2nd night. No choice other than £12.50 buffet breakfast in dining room so didn't have went elsewhere although mistake on bill charged us for 4 non-resident breakfasts!. Very stingy on bathroom accessories only 1 of everything.The food served at dinner was of very poor quality. The restaurant supervisor - unlike most of the other staff - didn't seem to care that I was not enjoying my meal. Food served by Room Service was poor quality. The bar food/room service was very over priced and service was slow. Telephone charges were unacceptable and will not stay there again. Staff were very variable - some helpful, some obstructive. The staff's first language was not English and it was often difficult to make ourselves understood, dinner took 2 hours and while we were not in a hurry, it was toolong.The staff. The restaurant was disappointing for an evening meal although breakfast was ok. electronic key system continually failed, fridge in room was broken. very noisey guests from upper floors and sound proofing needs looking at. The staff were dreadfully lazy and they over charged us, twice, for breakfast we didn't have.Shabby, musty-smelling airless room. A down-market hotel with ridiculous pretentions (e.g. "no jeans" rule in the restaurant!). The room was awful. Too small, Bathroom was disgraceful with dirty tiling and wash basin badly scored. Room was also hot, but opening the window meant high volumes of traffic noise.Poor thought had gone into design of room with only inches between end of beds and TV cabinet making it very unpleasant/impossible to sit. Vent in bathroom was also very noisy and was liable to wake sleeping person.

Travelling information

From M5: exit on Junction 11a and follow signs for Cirencester a417. At the roundabout follow the a436 to Oxford sign. At the T-junction, turn left on to the a435 to Cheltenham. The hotel is situated at the bottom of the hill on the left just past the Lilleybrook Golf Course.

From M40: exit the M40 at Junction 8 onto the A40 to Cheltenham. Before reaching Andoversford, follow signs for Gloucester A436 (A417) on the left. After approx 5 miles you will reach the end of the road and a staggered crossroads. Turn right and down the steep hill. The hotel is situated at the bottom of the hill on the left just past Lilleybrook Golf Club.

From M4: exit the M4 at Junction 15 onto the A419 to Cirencester. At Cirencester take the A417 sign posted Cheltenham. At the roundabout take the second exit direction 'Stow-on-the-wold' (ignore immediate left turn to Cheltenham). After several miles turn left onto the A435 to Cheltenham. The hotel is at the bottom of the hill on the left past the Lilleybrook Golf Club.
