Jolyon's @ No. 10 was great. The location was perfect for exploring Cardiff Castle and the Millenium Stadium, as well as a 15 minute walk from the train station. Also, just inside the park behind the hotel there is a wonderful waterbus that goes straight to the Bay. Easy public transportation for everywhere we wanted to go. The beds were very comfy and the bathtub was a great size. Super hotel with friendly and accommodating staff who went out of their way to help you and make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The hotel is right in the centre of the town and this makes it perfect for short city trips as you can wander in for shopping, sightseeing and food then go back easily and relax!.
all reviews » Booked two doubles and a suite for our daughters graduation, very friendly and welcoming reception staff, rooms were excellent value and fantastically appointed. Nothing to fault. Had a few drinks at the hotel but didn't eat there - what we saw come out though looked tasty! Very clean and not too noisy. Perfect location in Cardiff, with the beautiful Bute Park and Cardiff Castle right behind the hotel. Staff were very polite and helpful, they didn't just give us our room key, they assisted us to our room, opening the door for us too. Huge bathroom which was spotless, bed was comfy too!. first class establishment where the staff couldnt do enough or you, all totally professional, polite, attentive - nothing was too much trouble for them at any time. Spotlessly clean and comfortable rooms, extreme value for money - couldn't fault anything - will certainly go back there. Staff was wonderful. They upgraded our room when there was a problem with the letsbookhotel.com reservation, and they opened the restaurant early when we needed breakfast before our flight!. We had a suite which was very spacious. Comfortable bed. Ready supply of hot water. Freshly cooked Welsh breakfast was excellent - tasty sausage, bacon, definitely not supermarket food. Also breakfast was £10 on the web but £12 when we got there. They were very apologetic about all the mixed info and didn't charge for breakfast so very happy. Cannot fault this hotel at all, only minor thing was the parking spaces are limited. Don't be put off though if you can't book a parking space, as there is parking in Bute Park behind, and you can go in the back entrance to the hotel from there. nothing to complain about. Only issue was that the sign in our bathroom asked that we leave towels hanging if we were willing to reuse, so we did, but they still washed them. When we said something about not abiding by their own policy, they stopped making the beds, too--didn't touch any of the linens. We didn't want different service, only for them to go by their own policy of being "green." Simply making the beds (without changing the sheets) didn't seem "ungreen" or too much to ask. Otherwise, all was great!. Noise from 18th birthday party in hotel - but accepted you cannot have a party without noise!. There was noting we didn't like. Not as large and luxurious as the pictures showed on the website. Check out was a bit problematic as I left very early and the night porter could not find the restaurant bill. I liked it all. Not having parking - we needed to book it in advance - not obvious from the listing. n/a. The fact the bed was so comfortable we slept late and missed breakfast, it was served a little early for our liking would have liked it in bed then everything would have been perfect :). Room was too warm!. The mattress was a bit tired and lumpy so didn't get a great nights sleep. Couldn't find the iPod dock and there wasn't a whirlpool bath (not that we wanted either but it was supposed to come with the room). the room was like a oven , no aircon , there should be aircon in this hotel ,its so hot. Road Noise (1st room) Poor Quality (1st room). Heating wasn't working, the lovely bathroom hadn't been cleaned. Wanted a room more to me taste and we found the suite room a little plain would of preferred to have a smaller room if it was more too the boutique style . Aylesbury room should perhaps be re-designed to have the bed where the settee is and vice versa. This would make the toilet facility more private and away from the bed area. Also the mirror in the bathroom needs a light to light the face, at the moment ones face is always in darkness, not good for shaving, make up etc. The reception was verz small. They supported with the flight check-in (very nice), but only same day of departure (instead of day before). So when we finally did it we only find two sits not close to each other. Maybe in a 4 stars hotel, reception should always support you with this easy service ?. The room was far too warm. Parking- nearby car park pay and display difficult to use. More instructions from hotel would be useful. The room was freezing when we arrived. There were not any biscuits with the facilities to make tea in your room but there was wine and water you could purchase. The floor became soaked when we used the shower. I didn't really see the point to having a bath in the bathroom as it would only accommodate very small children. I shower floor would have and would be better. Breakfast should be included in the price - and it should be served till later! seriously, 9:30am is way too early! The room could have coat hangers- there weren't none!!!! I did think it was a bit weird the fact that you need to pass through the pub in order to get to the hotel reception/elevator to the room, every time. The non-flushing loo and having to move rooms 50 mins after I arrived to one with working loo. Room card not primed for 2 day stay, so couldn't get into room after long day. Annoying. Dull decor. No decent light over any of the many mirrors. there was a burn in the carpet look liked was made from Iron, in the room. the bed was comfortable put it was two singles bed stuck together which left a a dip in the bed, which was little annoying. Had to pay 10 pounds per day for parking in Sophia Garden parking due to did not reserve a parking. Would recomend creating a path to tie in with the footpath at the rear of the hotel. Not getting the room I had booked, with no explanation from hotel/staff! Very poor show!. the rooms were small and bare. very different to expected. Unbearably hot room, no a/c or effective fan available. Bathroom lighting too dim to see in mirror (to shave). No suitcase stand, only 2 hangers in wardrobe. Toilet roll holder broken. Disappointing lunch (cheese & biscuits: 3 pieces cheddar, 2 brie, cheap crackers). Oversold and under delivered. Value for money.
