The grounds and outlook are beautiful- deer, woodland etc. We saw a green woodpecker from the window of our room! Outdoor pool was lovely. The premier room was a great size and very comfortable, fantastic shower, helpful friendly staff. Breakfast was very good. The welcoming atmosphere, peacefulness, view from the room. Being dog friendly was very important. Easy walk to the village and into the forest without driving. Breakfast was very well cooked.

The only thing that occurred to me was that it seemed odd to have artificial flowers on the breakfast tables.slightly, the music at breakfast could have had more taste and lower in volume. we took friends for the first time and they stayed in the next room which was very disapointing as the first thing you saw when you entered the room was the terribly marked furniture tops,and there was no bedspread and the room was freezing cold which was not at all very welcoming.better showers in the room. Maybe the bar closed too early.No Lift. Indoor pool would be a great feature at this hotel. The pet waste bin was full so it could be emptied more frequently. our room was very clean but rather outdated. Not really, but weddings held on the two days of our stay meant it was busy and perhaps slightly less tranquil than we would have wished. The situation of the standard rooms - you had to walk through a "maze" of corridors which lead you past the Kitchen. Felt like you were in the out houses, however, the rooms were very clean and although they could do with a bit of a re-vamp they were very comfortable. Bed was great and so was the tv! Was wonderful to wake up in the morning and see the deer at the bottom of the gardens.Dining room was a little cheerless in evening and cold. Our room was not decorated particularly tastefully and the decor looked tired. Bathroom needs updating. Dinner expensive and food overcooked and dry. Restaurant food was poor. Attention to detail could be improved. The room itself needs a lot of modernisation and could have been cleaner but the bathroom was very very dissapointing as it was very old fashioned and run down with only a shower curtain and not a proper shower and definitely needed a great deal of updating and was not very clean.breakfast unbelievably slow. we watched orange juice container and glasses tray refilled 3 times! maybe a bigger facility? clearly not staffed up to cope with weddings that week-end. Rooms very poor.... old cracked tiles in bathroom. Paint around windows all cracked and falling off. Under the bed was discusting(we have a 1yr old and checked everywhere before leaving!).... sweet wrappers and dirt, looked like it has never been hoovered! Would not have wantwed to pay anymore than we did. If hotel was not situated where it was, we would have been very unhappy indeed.
