What people say
Everything about our stay was amazing! The staff were unbelievably helpful and went out of their way to make sure our stay was everything we were expecting. They arranged taxis for us, breakfast was delicious with a large choice of food and they even upgraded us to a bigger room. Fantastic!!!!!!!!. The staff were incredibly welcoming and it was great fun staying at The Town House. Each room is decorated in a different way, which made it very exciting. The top floor room has the most amazing room, even in the rain, though the stairs may be difficult for older guests.all reviews »
The whole experience for my daughter and her fiancee was wonderful. The rooms were fabulous and clean and the breakfast was very good. staff were very friendly. the theme of rooms, convenient distance to walk into city centre. sea view,. The lovely staff, the amazing room and the fantastic location!. The staff were extremely friendly, and genuinely wanted us to have a good time. The rooms were fabulous too!. it was just different from your usual boring hotel rooms. it was a bit more exciting. cool rooms, def something special..made the difference1!. Lovely Room and nice service. Decor imaginative and aesthetically pleasing. Good quality towels and bed linen!. Very clean room and really comfortable bed. liked the theme rooms. the restaurant which was independent served a great breakfast and we ended up eating dinner there too, which was superb. a great location with about a 5 minute walk to town and near many good eateries.the accessibility to the sea and the town was brilliant, but still being fairly quiet and on the square. The rooms were fun. Excellent position for exploring Brighton. Breakfast and service 1st class-one of the best we have ever had in any hotel!. The theme and quality of the room was very good and the breakfasts were lovely. the theme room and the nice and friencly staff. Location, decor, quirkiness and breakfast. The room was funky and very different. very good. The Zen room was fun and funky, the dining room was nice and breakfast were really good.Staff, lovely roon and breakfast. Breakfast, The bed was very comfortable. Good location.Proximity to sea front. Individuality of room. Balcony with sea view. comfortable bed, nice size room, themed idea good but over priced. The themes were different and quite fun and the breakfast was nice. Location was great as everything was a 5 min walk. Good Location.breakfast. There was not one thing I would change about the hotel or our time there!. only one very minor detail - the jug of fresh milk which was put out on the saturday when we arrived had gone off by the sunday morning as there was no fridge, therefore unable to have a cup of tea when woke up on the sunday morning. like i said something very minor but something noticable. that we only stayed there the one night!. ok, so the 'seaview room' took some manouvering out to the balcony to view the sea. the rooms were smaller than anticipated (Parisien), Colonial was fine. The cooked breakfast didn't live up to expectation, I may have been unlucky, and was nearly late for breakfast, but the coffee was one of the best I've had in ages. Low ceiling in Jungle Room. there was no airco. Thought it was overpriced. a bit small but okay. Our bathroom smelt a bit mouldy. Jug of milk was off by morning. Fridge or UHT milk would be better. No wall plugs free at all; none near any mirrors for hair driers. Only a hand shower over the bath. shower would of been preferred, seaview is poor,no bar at hotel, over priced for what you got, little choice for continental breakfast, charge for room service when already paid £135 for room per night, have stayed in better hotels for less money so was overall disappointed. No bar area for evening. Not worth the money. Very expensive for what it was. We only booked this because we could not get in anywhere else. We would stay again but only if the other hotels were fully booked. Rooms were very hot in the morning, not nice when waking up with a hang over.No bar in the hotel. Room was at the top of the hotel with no lift and a lot of stairs. Themed hotel poorly done DIY.

Hotel information details
The Town House is a unique, singular, privately owned hotel. The partners feel strongly that a hotel should be a place of calm, but also a place of imagination and frivolity, and have therefore created a hotel unlike any other you will have seen before.
The Town House Brighton has been designed by the international design partnership of Lionel Dumas and Maarten Hoffmann (344 Design Limited). The hotel is based on the partner’s favourite locations around the globe. Not content to follow the well-trodden path of boutique hotels, the Town House goes further - a long, long way further.
The hotel is in the New Steine, which is a lovely grass square on Brighton’s seafront, only 100 yards away from St James's Street, the heart of Kemptown. Kemptown is one of Brighton’s trendiest and most vibrant areas, full of great restaurants, pubs and clubs. The pier, the conference centre and all of Brighton’s great shopping centres are within easy walking distance.
Information about the area
The Townhouse can be found right in the hub of Brighton’s trendy Kemptown district. Set on the east side of New Steine, the hotel is within a short walk of many of Brighton's famous attractions, including the Royal Pavilion and the Palace Pier. There are countless bars and restaurants that are also within easy walking distance of the hotel.
The hotel enjoys an unobstructed view of the sea, and you can reach the seafront on foot in just a couple of minutes.
Brighton Pier, also known as Palace Pier is just 500 metres from the hotel. Originally built at a record cost in the 1890s, the pier now features amusement arcades, restaurants and a funfair.
Volk's Electric Railway is also about 500 metres away. Running from the aquarium to the popular Marina leisure complex, the railway was built in 1883 by Magnus Volk and is now the world's oldest electric railway.
Brighton Royal Pavilion is just 700 metres from the hotel. This ornate former royal residence was built in the early 19th century and was once the home of the Prince Regent. Today, the pavilion is open to visitors and Brighton's museum and art gallery are housed on the site.
Room information details
Each of the rooms is unique and has been individually designed by an international interior design team. Every room is themed and you can choose from the Parisienne Room, the Zen Room, the Cosmos Room, the Kasbah Room, the Alpine Room, the Colonial Room, the Jungle Room and the Mandarin Room.
Every gorgeous room offers exquisite comfort and sumptuous luxury. The rooms are not just themed; they totally transport you to that time and place. The props used in the rooms are all 100% genuine and from that location and era. For example, the Colonial Room is designed to recreate the feel of the Governor’s Mansion in Calcutta in the heady days of the British Empire and the Raj. The Raj map that adorns one wall is an original hand-painted map from 1892, showing the locations and dates of the massacres and mutinies of the time. The books on the shelves are all authentic and of the period. The photographs on the walls are of the governor’s family on a day out bagging tigers and the rug on the floor is one of those tigers. On the top shelf, you will see the bugle of the Eighth Calcutta Lancers, the last British regiment to leave India.
The Alpine Room offers a 100% pine log cabin in the mountains, with wooden skis from 1910, a cuckoo clock hand-made in the Black Forest, a view of the snow-capped Alps and a shimmering log fire.
Everything is purist and genuine and aims to transport you off on an imaginative fantasy.
French Trompe l’Oeil artist Lionel Dumas has created some stunning original artwork in the form of murals that adorn many rooms and help capture the era.
