The restored Storrs Gate House offers sumptuous bedrooms with free Wi-Fi, hearty breakfasts, and free, ample parking. A full English breakfast is served in the morning. Breakfast items include free-range eggs from a local farm, handmade Cumberland sausage, homemade jam, marmalade, yoghurt and muffins. The bedrooms are decorated with rich fabrics and colours. Excellent breakfast, fresh coffee and a range of breakfast choices. Fresh flowers on the tables and the breakfast room looked over a charming garden. Our bed was large and comfortable, the en suite had a brilliant shower with The White Company toiletries. A great spot, a five minute walk to the ferry, then a choice of many beautiful walks, long and short. Bowness on Windermere is delightful and has a good selection of restaurants a twenty minute walk from Storrs Gatehouse. Need to take a torch.
all reviews » We loved this b & B. This was the one of the best beds we slept in while on our trip around England. Vince is a great host with good recommendations on what to do and how to get there. Shirley is an awesome cook and these were the best breakfasts we had in England. The location is very good - a 15 minute walk from the town so that we could enjoy wine with dinner and not worry about driving and there are lots of good restaurants in Bowness-on-Windemere - just ask Vince!. The location was perfect for walking into Bowness and it was just over 5 minutes to the passenger ferry to Hawkshead. It's a beautiful old building refurbished in keeping with its heritage but with all modern facilities. There is a very warm welcome from Vince and Shirley who really look after you and do all they can to make your stay a pleasure. The breakfast is huge and delicious!. Everything, the room was superb and has everything you need for comfort. The breakfast had an excellcent choice to chose from. My husband was very impressed and commented 'that its the best place he has stayed in' and hes stayed in lots of places. The owners are very friendly and make you feel very welcome. very welcoming.warm atmosphere.very clean.very well maintained.breakfast perfect.beautiful nature friendly garden.would recommend to everyone.wheelchair usable.only shower needed a .chair or stool therefore depending on disability shower may be an issue.room very large and comfortable. Perfect night away! To call this a B&B doesn't really do the place justice! From the minute we arrived we got the impression that the owners love what they do! The house is immaculate and so well cared for. The room was huge and very luxuorious. We loved everything about it. The atmosphere created at Storrs Gate House by the owners (Shirley & Vince) is warm and welcoming. The location is perfect - far enough from the bustle of Bowness but near enough to enjoy a short walk along lake Windermere. The breakfasts were outstanding !. The hosts were extremely helpful and friendly , we had to leave at 5.00 am on tues to get to our cafe Upstairs downstairs to open up after the bank hol at 8.00 and they kindly packed us up a fruit salad to die for !! Also 3 bacon but ties for our journey !. This is a first class five star bed and breakfast guest house. Great rooms in a wonderful setting. Good food and in a prime location for the ferry and walking into Bowness. You will not be disapointed 10 out of 10 will stay again in the future. the staff were very friendly and the food was , IE breakfast, was good. the room was comfortable and spotlessly clean with a free wifi and a nice telly the bathroom was very good but only had a shower and no bath which may put some people off. Excellent hosts made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was wonderful, very freshly cooked, quality ingredients and lovely homemade granola and yogurt. Everything the whole stay from arrival to departure you were made to feel special, nothing was to much trouble and lots of little touches from sweets on the bed to fridge with snacks and drinks in room, thanks to Vince and Shirley. Both Shirley and Vince were very hospitable and rooms were beautiful. Location was good and only 10mins to walk into Bowness. Attention to detail in the bedrooms, eg, mini bar, all essentials catered for in bathroom. Vince and Shirley are lovely and accommodating accommodating people. the breakfast was superb. The location of the place couldn't be better. Near the ferry and a short drive away from town. The hotel fantastic the lovely relaxing attmosphere of the lakes the high quality breakfast we booked here so we could have a 3 day relaxing break and this is what we had great. Leaving to go home. Awkward location on a corner for traffic although the parking space was small it was manageable. It is about a mile away from restaurants for the evening which is not a problem if the weather is ok - otherwise cabs - this was not a serious problem just an observation. I thought that £110 per night was expensive for a B & B but may be in keeping with the location. thought it was nearer lake awkward entrance on a junction. Nothing. Leaving!. Nothing. I thought the room was a bit too warm but that may have been because the owners thought as we had come from Australia we would feel the cold more. Nothing. The weather :(. Short 30 minute window for breakfast if you wanted a sleep not good.
