Breakfast was delicious with a variety of hot and cold items that were clearly made in house. The items changed throughout a things ran out, new recipes showed up which was awesome. We're vegan, so there were a lot of items we couldn't eat that looked great. Cheese and dairy is pretty common in Turkey. Over the last year, I have stayed in many good hotels, to the likes of; Innova Sultanahmet, Djem, Ayasofia Konaklari etc and was looking for something extraordinary for my forthcoming stay. This one, with overall rating of 9.2, seemed to be in the league of the above. Walking down the street to the hotel I wondered if this hotel would live up to it’s score. It did not take me long to reali. The staff consists of highly proffesstional people, sincerely caring for your well-being and your comfort. The owner is indeed one of the nicest people around, eager to help you with whatever you might need. As an example, we got scratched by a street cat while having lunch in the city cafe. Hasan the hotel administrator after consulting the owner of the hotel took us to the nearest clinic and talked the doctor into giving an injection agaist rabbies free of charge. The staff speaks multiple. Hard to think of a better place to stay in Istambul. Location is excellent: a short walk to the Blue Mosk/Hagia Sofia/Topkapi Palace and to Sultanahmet tram station. Cozy, nicely decorated hotel. Very comfortable rooms with newly renovated bathroom. Exquisite, abundant breakfast with all the best Turkish goodies/delicacies. And best of all, full-time advice, assistance, hospitality, and friendship from the hosts and owners of the hotel, Ismael and Tulay. We miss them already as well as their tw. we enjoyed our stay at oba hotel very much. it's really close to sultanahmet and all the old city attractions (hagia sophia, topkapi, grand bazar, suleymanye mosque (which i recommend much more than sultanahmet). The room was very nice . everything was very clean and neat. we felt like home and the owner was a real friendly host. he recommended lots of things to do and visit. breakfast was served everyday on the ground floor hall, and was generally good ;) all in all, a very nice experience, an. The staff were friendly and (perhaps just as importantly) they were honest. Unlike many places in Istanbul I didn't feel like they were trying to sell me anything, and yet to a person they went out of their way to make me feel at home. The hotel itself is beautiful (an old building redone in a rich Ottoman style) and located less than five minutes' walk from the Blue Mosque, but also gives you great access to spots more frequented by the locals. Breakfast is very good and in line with what you . absolutely excellent staff, very considerate household, who can speak perfect English, which is a precious treasury in Istanbul --90% of citizens cannot speak English; the location of the hotel is good since it is only 8 min walk to blue mosque and sophia church. as for the room itself, very clean, big double bed, luxury lights, making it like your home. by the way, facilities are new and easy to use, I am sure I will visit Istanbul with my wife and my whole family and stay in this hotel again. The Hotel has an excellent location close to the major sights in Sultanahmet (5 mins walk). The owner and stafff are all very friendly and helpful, and make you feel at home. The rooms are large and tastefully furnished (I particularly liked the paintings of Istanbul cityscapes throughout the hotel and in the room). The staff was incredibly friendly. They stayed up with us for an hour after we arrived and told us about the city. They were incredibly attentive, answering our calls at all hours. The breakfast wasn't amazing, but it was nice enough. Everything was ok. Even muezzin voice at 5 in the morning - it is Istanbul! The location is very good. Though the rooms are meticulously clean, some of the fixtures in mine had not been well maintained and small pieces were loose or falling off. Not a big problem, just a bit of a nuisance sometimes. The major issue at the hotel was the soundproofing which was not good, both between floors and from the windows. I used earplugs which solved the issue. To get to the sights of Sultanahmet you need to walk up a fairly steep road, which is not uncommon in Istanbul, but maybe an issue for some people. muezzin was very loud in the mornings, probably because the hotel is very close to one of the attraciions (old mosque). Though it's been completely and tastefully renovated, you cannot avoid the architectural characteristics of the old Ottoman building - hearing someone walking upstairs. That is basically the only fault - the hotel is highly recommendable. The location was a little out of the way. It was hard for taxi drivers to find. But, after the first two nights, we didn't have any problems. It is only a 5 minute walk from teh Blue Mosque and the other main attractions in Old Town. Nothing. Only small problem with this hotel is lack of soundproofing. Benefits far outweight the little noise of other guest you may hear. Difficult to find at first, area was a bit run down, got that sinking feeling at first, no sign outside, but doubts dispelled as soon as we entered. The hotel is in the Old City and is not easy to locate. A good area map at the beginning of my stay would have been useful. i am sure there is negative (nothing is perfect!) but i just couldn't find it! faultless, simply faultless. Maybe the only thing to improve is breakfast. Difficult to find. Even the cab driver didn't know where it was BUT everything except the major attractions r hard to find in Istanbul. No names on the street corners!. small bathroom, only for 1 person at the time. Too hot in common areas and quite hard to find, one must go up a steep hill to get to the Blue Mosque. No soundproofing, the morning prayers were loud, no sign of the hotel name in the building. The room is small and poor sound-proof. Hot foods in breakfast could be more kinds to choose. The only negative thing for me was the sound of the first prayer in the morning (around 5am) because the hotel is by the side of a mosque. Our room was too small: about 12 m2 (declared 20), with a medium height of about 2 m (in the minuscule bathroom the medium height was 1.80 m). The emergency exits are fake, in case of fire you must jump from 2nd floor!.
