As a single woman Canadian traveler who does not speak Spanish, I of course approached my visit to Lima with some degree of caution. However, having Lima Backpackers Hostel as my home base was the key to making my trip a glorious success. Marco, the host/owner of Lima Backpackers, was endlessly patient and available to answer questions about Lima
... what people say » such as cost of taxis, how to take the Metropolitano (public transit), where to eat the amazing food of Lima, and so on. He keeps the hostel spotlessl -
Marco, the host, is a really good and honest person. He made us feel welcome straight away, he showed us a map of each place we could visit in Lima, he has several guide books in case you don't have one, internet and skype work really well and he has all the necessary equipment. The best part is he has a cocktail hour! Really amazing value for money - also, he provides you with a metropolitano bus card to travel to the city or other tourist areas as the apartment is not in the centre.
