My husband and I stayed at Citybox from the 25.10.13 to 27.10.13 without any problems. I agree with some reviews below, it is a hostel and not a hotel. However we had a very comfortable stay in an en suite room in an expensive city. This place was not only cheap but also walking distance to everything as Bergen is a small city. Our bed was comfortable, our shower was warm and our sleep was uninterrupted. No tv in the rooms but my husband loaded a couple movies for us to watch on his tab. The wi.
all reviews » Very close to the railway (5 min max. walking) and to the city center (10 min walking). Kitchen with microwave oven and tables. The cutlery can be borrowed from the bar opposite to the kitchen. The rooms are clean and the shared bathrooms are most of the times clean (mostly depending on the other guests which are sharing the bathrooms with you). The room had an electrical heating system, which was very good. Most affordable accomodation we could find in Bergen, beyond our expectations, very decent, clean, quiet, 10mins walk to center. Included linen and towels (which one usually has to pay for in Norway). We shared bathroom with only another room and it was tidy. Staff very friendly. Downstairs reception quite large, with kettle and microwave which come in handy for food bought from nearby supermarket. The Manager of Reception in Citybox - Bergen, Rosemary, provided service and accommodation for my parents and boyfriend that was not just exceptional, but which went above and beyond. We had a wonderful stay at the hotel and a fantastic time in Bergen. We would return to Bergen in a heart beat and book at Citybox without hesitation. Tusen takk, Rosemary!. Citybox is absolutely excellent! We had a lovely warm, clean room which was a very good size. No one bothered us and yet they were there to help us if need be. Regarding the price level in Bergen, this accomodation facility is great due to its perfect location, service, and a lot of other details. Our 4 people family room were perfect for me and my friends. The city, Bergen, was actually so beautiful and marvelous and I will recommend anyone to come here to have a great time. The citybox hotel is located close to a lot of restaurants and bar in a young student neighboorhood. Bryggen is like the rest of the city center stil in walking distance. The room were clean, no luxury, but everything you need as a traveller. I would book it again if I need an accommodation in Bergen. The room was basic but clean and warm. The beds were comfy. The breakfast served in the adjoining café was nice, if a little slow in arriving. Staff were friendly and helpful, though not always accurate with their information (such as why the doors didn't always lock automatically!). The location is excellent. Short walk from the central station and the city center. The staff was very helpful. They went the extra mile to help me and promptly informed me of a forgotten Kindle which I retrieved before leaving Bergen. I would recommend this place. Staff are very friendly. If I had to be picky, I'd say no shelves or any place in the bathroom to keep any clensing/ make- up products. Check in process was automated and had trouble with my American credit card. But there is a phone near by where you could call for assistance. Did that and was able to check in face to face with a person. No curtains at the window (opposite home citisens - welcome to see the striptease). We were promised to have double room but we've got twin at first (but to the honour of hotel - it was changed to double in two minutes after we asked about). Prices of food. Bathrooms needs renovation . there was not a single hook in the bathroom to hang the towel .view from the windows was not nice ,showing all the untidy backyard .however I suggest not to open the windows to keep the house flies from coming in .internet was not good in the room, but good in lobby . Small desk to sit at. Too much rain outside :-) but it does not last long. The exterior of the Building needs a bit of a face lift. Bunk beds not too comfortable, and insufficient light in the room. When you arrive you have to check in in a computer at the entrance but it never worked, we were trying for a while and it started to be annoying, but fortunately the staff was there and saw us but if you arrive late at night and theres no one there will be a problem. The noise of people fighting and cursing outside the building in the night. Seems like lots of out of control drinking and tempers in the area. Difficulty with out-of-order check-in system but eventually got in with help of another guest. The check in process, although keeping things cheap, was a bit of a pain - we had a couple of problems. These were all sorted out v.quickly though by a staff member. The computerized check-in was down when I arrived. Fortunately a friendly staff was available to check me in. Luggage storage is only limited until 4:30 pm on Sundays due to no available staff on site. The check-in machine only allowed bank card to pay the money, but we only have cash. We have to borrow a card to check in. the extra bed was very poor - we took the mattress off and slept on the floor instead. Bathroom was not equiped with soap. The room could be a bit cleaner (we've had someone's hair in the bathroom and bedroom, on pillows) but that's the only minus. Breakfast started at 9.00 am and we left around 8.00 am so we could not have breakfast before we left. Liked everything. No breakfast :(. Wireless internet connection was very spotty at best!. Room with shared bathroom didn't like sharing bathroom but we were moved immediately on request. The entrance was not easy to find at the beginning. Should have a bigger sign. Nothing major--only a plug for the bath tub. The check in printer at the entrance was not working. A little noisy facing the street. No restaurant or lounge on site. Internet was hit or miss. it's noisy after dinner time because very near to the avenue. The price, but given it's in Norway, it is perhaps to be expected! :). hmm.. no schampoo in the shower maybe.. box bed was a bit problematic if not used to it kept on bumping my toe.
