Bergen Hotels

Nice hotel just by the train station (on the right when you arrive by train). Nice modern rooms, clean and comfortable. The rooms are a tad small compared to bigger rooms one gets outside Europe. The double bed was two single beds so not practical for a couple as the gap in between gets bigger during the night so you can end up in between the two. Great scandinavian buffet breakfast. Computer room with two computers for free internet usage as there is no wifi in the hotel. - David

The hotel is located centrally and is close to the train station and the Unesco World Heritage site (Bryggen). The train station, which is just a comfortable 10 mins walk away, is from where one can take day trips to the different fjords. The room in which we ( my husband and I ) stayed was of a comfortable size. There was an electric kettle , an assortment of tea bags and coffee sachets which we found very convenient. Very conveniently located in the city centre, you are within easy walking distance of the main city attractions. Also within easy walking distance of the railway station. The 9th floor room we were given was superb with a stunning view over the Lille Lungegårdsvann (an elegant park with formal lake and fountain). The room was huge, very well appointed with high quality furnishings, plenty of intelligently designed cupboard and shelf space, and large very comfortable beds. The bathroom was als - Stephen

We stayed here during our one-day stay at Bergen last week. Price was decent, staff were friendly and helpful, room and hotel were both quiet, clean, and well-maintained. People that complained about the room sizes in prior reviews don't understand that everything in Europe is smaller than in America, where everything is oversized-the twin beds were the same size as a twin bed in America, and the room was average size for a European hotel. Friendly staff and clean room. Quick service and good food at the restaurant (Egon), and beautiful breakfast. My room faced towards Torgalmenningen, so it was a bit noisy at night (Saturday night). But nothing too bad. And I'm sure if you ask the friendly staff they can get you a room that faces to the back so you get a bit more peace and quiet if you need that:) The room was a single, but got a double bed!! - James

Just returned from a trip to Norway. Arrived in Bergen at 29.06. by plane and booked the Sandviken Brygge by a local operator for as low as 625.-- NOK B&B, a real good fare. The hotel is located in a former industrial area, now rebuilt with new appartments, the most negative thing, a large and noisy building site nearby. Quiet at night. A bus stop is about 100 meters from the hotel, high frequency, no long time to wait there, most important is that the bus stop is named in the Gaiatrafi - Sofia

Having read the previous reviews of this hotel, I have to say that our experience of the Rica was the exact opposite of what some people appear to have found. The staff were incredibly helpful and our room (admittedly one of the upgraded rather than standard) was great. We were there for two nights and the breakfasts on both days were excellent. The hotel's location (about five minutes walk from the harbour) is ideal too. Negatives? Only one. If you have your window open at night the traffic - Alan

I've read other reviews for this hotel and I disagree with most of them. I found the staff helpful and friendly but waaay too good looking! The room was big enough, warm, very clean, power shower (amazing) and heated towel rail (great for drying clothes) in a decent sized bathroom. Toiletries as standard, as was the wireless broadband, which seems to be an optional extra in most other Norwegian Hotels. Hotel restaurant was very good. Good food and beers, I recommend the seafood linguine. Breakfa - Jessica

The best thing about this hotel is the staff. They really go out of their way to make things easy and pleasant, and to look thrilled to do so. They called cabs, made dinner reservations, printed our emails, provided maps--all while appearing that our requests brightened their day. The public rooms are cosy and comfy. The main lounge/sitting room is looking a bit frayed, but in a homey, warm way. It has many comfortable chairs and sofas, a good selection of magazines, coffee and tea all day, - Nicola
