Throughout our 11 days in Korea, we stayed in several hotels in Seoul including Lotte Hotel World. Although Lotte Hotel World is an established hotel with varied facilities, my friend and I still prefer The Grand Hotel Myeongdong as our utmost choice. Here are some plus points for this hotel: + Very clean + The room and beds are very comfortable. + Staffs are all very polite and friendly. all reviews » I stayed in a double bed room, space is just enough. A small walk in closet and reasonable size bathroom with bathtub. Got window with not so good view (just next door building). Good to find the innisfree toiletries, one of my fave korean cosmetic brand. Location in the side of busy myeongdong, less noisy. Interesting to find a paper cup so we can have an extra coffee/beverages for take away after buffet breakfast. Usually hotel wont allow guest to take out anything from the restaurant on a bu. The location is excellent. Only 3 min from exit 10 of Myeongdong station and Sejong Hotel where there is an airport shuttle bus stop. It's very convenient no matter where you want to go. Excellent hotel if you come to Seoul for food and shopping. We had a family room and there were two rooms connecting to each other. Room and toilet sizes are reasonable given its an Asian boutique hotel. We arrived around mid night and the staff came to pick us up at the Sejong bus stop. We are very happy with . Excellent location. Just 2 mins from Myeongdong Station, Airport Bus Station and the shopping streets. The receptionists are so nice. Maybe my parents (aged 71 and 65) are old and we've just taken midnight flight, they allowed us early check-in without charges. Such a wonderful and comfortable experience. If I travel to Seoul with my parents in future, I must book this hotel again. Great location right in the Myeongdong shopping area. Lots of restaurants and shopping right on your doorstep. Many interesting TV channels to choose from. Comfort of the guests is looked into considerately. Really convenient to shop and eat at Myeongdong area and nearby. Very close to Sejong Hotel if you need to get on/off the airport bus. Room size is appropriate and you don't expect this hotel with many facilities because convenience and new are the biggest selling point. Overall, worth to stay again. The hotel is quite conveniently located in Myeoung-Dong area, everything was new and clean, the rooms were sufficiently big. Free and working WiFi everywhere (unlike Lotte Hotel where I stayed last year and where I had to pay a lot of money to get internet on top of the top- dollar room rate). - Location is good. just a corner to airport shuttle bus & metro. No. 4 line is easy access to anywhere. Also, not too noisy even it is located in busy area and just 1 min walk can reach all the shops in Myeongdong - Even taxi to most of the tourist place is not expensive. The hotel location is on a mainly walking street, which means its quieter. Quick access to lots of mid-market shopping, with Shinsegae Dep't store close-by. Also lot of small restaurants. The smell from the carpets! And since its a new hotel, most taxis doesn't know its location. We end up always get down on myeongdong subway station and walk. Since there is no room service in this hotel, the staff doesn't know how to handle our requests for plates and fork/knife. Even if they manage to send us some, nobody cleaned them up. The housekeeping lady won't clean them up. Nothing. I prefer a double bed and both rooms I stayed in were twin rooms with single beds. Not a major issue - just a personal preference. More wardrobe space for packing of winter clothing and personal items is preferred. Air conditioning takes a while to cool down in the evening but it gets too cold in the early morning. Breakfast can be improved, or if your price don't include breakfast that's ok as there are many restaurants nearby for you to try: congee, noodles, rice... It's a small hotel which has some backsides, the breakfast is relatively simple, if you stay there for a couple of days, the small number of dishes can get a bit boring (but hey, what can you expect in a small hotel). The hotel does not have a bar. - room is small but good enough - pillow is too soft, we need to request another one. Really nothing to complan about; it can be hard to find as it is very new and not on the main street. The key tip is that it is about one block behind the Sejong Hotel, which shows up on all the tourists maps and is a stop for the Airport bus. Just get off at Sejong Hotel and it is only about 200 meters to the hotel. The room is not so big, but nt a problem. the bathroom's size is pretty big compare to the room, &the toilet is pretty advanced. The wi-fi was at time a bit slow - but this is a very minor quibble. Didn't try the breakfast buffet but it looks limited. Nothing. The room is too small,and the air conditioner is too hard to control. There is only one elevator, which makes things a little inconvenient. The room and bathroom were very, very nice, except for there not being a seating area. Had to ask for what I requested, i.e., the staff did not read the special request. Once brought to their attention, the request was granted. It's a great location but not well known by taxi drivers as it is still new i heard. So getting there the first time takes a bit of effort. Slightly smaller room but enought for me. Nothing at all. Everything's good. Air conditioning only has heating function during my stay. I was told that it is still in winter time, so no cooling nor fan function. I can't open window to get fresh air as it was noisy before midnight, so the room was hot. Tried out the printer at business center but it doesn't work. Some of the female staff are not knowledgeable enough, and not as friendly and professional as the male staff. What we did not like was the fact that there was no true extra effort made to get us a room with a double bed instead of twin beds. The water in the shower was running onto the floor via the back of the sink, making it wet and unsafe. The room might be a little bit too small. nothing to complain. Wifi was a bit dicey. The hotel could do with a bar. Inflexible to allow for late check out - for travelers who are returning on mid night flight. small room/bed for a couple, could just fit in bed with our suitcases. None. Very slow Wi-Fi. Not clearly defined terms of use meeting rooms. Aircond when it comes to a certain temperature, it will auto cut off. Hard to find. Not marked on many maps and no clear signs until you reach the front of the building. Our Taxi driver didn't even know where it was and had to call them. English could be improved No shuttle bus in front of Hotel Internet too slow. Breakfast can be better. Not much variety. Too little choice for breakfast. they changed breakfast menu and now looks more like lunch (really? risotto and pizza for breakfast instead of eggs?)... new chef has removed the eggs and tomato salad from breakfast... Its a small room. very small rooms. Room is small and abit over-priced as compared with other hotels nearby. The room is a bit small. There is only one elevator and it works fairly slow.
